Its a good plataformer, challenging enough but with a sense of fair play, all of the bosses become easier to do as you learn their patterns and learn to use your movements better and in some cases, where to position yourself.

There Was a Caveman, developed and published by Nauris Amatnieks, is a retro-inspired 2D action platformer that channels the spirit of classic side-scrolling games from the late 1980s and early 1990s. Its premise is simple but charmingly old-fashioned: you play as the last living caveman, a solitary relic of a bygone age who sets out on a perilous journey to find a mate and ensure the survival of his species. From the opening moments, the game immerses the player in a world that feels both primitive and magical, where dinosaurs, deadly plants, and ancient hazards populate environments rendered in lovingly detailed pixel art. It’s clear from the outset that the developer had a deep affection for the 16-bit era of gaming, capturing not only its aesthetics but also its trademark challenge and punishing level design. At its core, the game is built around tight, reflex-based platforming. The caveman can run, jump, double-jump, dash, and throw various prehistoric weapons like bones, rocks, and spears, each with unique trajectories and strengths. These mechanics work together to create a fast-paced rhythm of movement and attack that rewards timing and spatial awareness. The level design,…

There Was a Caveman is an okay 2D retro game and it’s made by the same guy who made The Inner Darkness, okay then the story. In a cave in prehistoric times a lone caveman must find himself a bride no matter how many dinosaurs, prehistoric beasts and giant monsters he must fight. So what are the likes, the gameplay is okay it does have its problems which I'll get into the dislikes, but anyway the gameplay is fairly simple fight monsters, do platforming and avoid the many traps and pits and at the end of the level fight a boss. The story is okay pretty simple nothing to write home about, it actually has some Joe and Mac vibes believe it or not, particularly at the last level. The graphics are good has a good retro aesthetic with its colors, graphics and designs. The levels are a real mixed bag I do like looks and the retro aesthetic but that's the only positive things I can really say about the levels sadly. The enemies and bosses are good each one has their own unique looks that really fit with the prehistoric vibes. The music was good fits this game very well. So what are the dislikes, the level designs are kind of bad basically it feels very cheap and poorly designed with some …

The main reason it sucks, it's starting the game from the start every time I open the game, no "continue" and no "save"
