About Scavenger of Dunomini

Congratulations, you have been bound to a trash pit! Your task will be to recycle the trash into useful resources as it keeps coming down, and build automated deadly defences. Why defenses? Well other drones are not so lucky as you, and they will come to steal your precious garbage... But of course we trust you to kick them out before any makes it out with your trash! But do take caution that your garbage doesn't pile up too high either...

This is a unique and nervous take on the match-3 genre, inspired by the likes of Wario's woods, with a tower defense twist. Play solo or in local coop to defend your trash pile, or battle it out with a friend in versus mode!

✦ AI summary

Players consistently praise Scavenger of Dunomini as an inventive and engaging puzzle-defense hybrid that successfully blends tile-matching with strategic base building, with many finding it rewarding enough to lose sleep over. The main feedback is that the game has a steep learning curve and demands constant attention, requiring players to approach it with fresh expectations rather than comparing it to similar games like Wario's Woods, and some appreciate the depth that emerges once you understand the layered mechanics and how different defensive structures work together. my favorite game of all time is wario's woods, so I'm poisoned in my control reactions. when I try to use the same controls or techniques in this game they didn't work. I realize that's all a me problem, so I'm going to set that aside. after having played only 15 minutes I could tell the game is really awesome and I actually do recommend it. I know that's not a great or trustworthy seal of approval, but trust me it's really cool. HOWEVER, don't go in expecting it to be just like wario's woods like I did, because it's very very different. I didn't even fully comprehend how I was supposed to get ahead, and I kept trying to do the things I do in WW, which doesn't work. So come at it with fresh thumbs so to speak.

Very good, worth the price. I started out by simply doing the match 3 thing with the scrap, but I knew at some point the droids would come, so I made a blaster to keep them at bay. this worked for a bit but it was really ineffective. I needed to improve my strategy, and so I did. Over the course of many games I learned more and more about the different blocks, blasters don't shoot if there is an enemy or block directly in front of them, they charge their shot, and then shoot once they do see an enemy in front of them. Autocannons are omni-directional but need ammo, they can shoot through structures. Along with learning about the blocks I learned more about how to use them. I learned that it's best to put your defenses closer to your base since it's faster to travel too, and to make trenches so enemies take longer to reach you. And there are a lot of blocks I haven't gotten that much time to experiment with. I think I could play this game for a lot longer but I have a really important assignment due, but once that's done I might jump right back into this.

Scavenger of Dunomini, developed and published by PUNKCAKE Delicieux, is a dense and high-pressure arcade hybrid that blends puzzle-solving with base defense in a way that feels both inventive and deliberately overwhelming. It takes familiar mechanics—matching tiles and defending territory—and merges them into a single, constantly escalating system where every second demands attention. Like many of the developer’s projects, it embraces a small scope but fills it with layered interactions, creating an experience that is easy to grasp in concept yet surprisingly demanding in execution. The game places you in control of a small scavenger unit stationed in a junk-filled pit, tasked with processing incoming debris while fending off hostile machines trying to steal your resources. The core loop revolves around manipulating tiles within a confined grid, arranging them according to specific rules to generate materials. However, this is not a traditional match-3 system. Each type of tile follows its own logic—some require longer chains, others depend on particular shapes or configurations—which forces players to think beyond simple pattern recognition. Instead of relying on instinct alone,…

Go play Wario's Woods. Did you like Wario's Woods? You'll like this. It's like Wario's Woods, but there's also robots who really don't want you to play Wario's Woods.
