House Fighters: Total Mess

TL; DR: a charming little plane combat game that struggles to make the plane combat good. Pros: -art style is (mostly) great and seems to be a cute nod to Toy Story -other toy interactions are fun and I had a smile on my face as I flew around the house seeing what they were getting up to (if you shoot them, though, the bullet hole decals remain static while they keep moving which leads to a weird visual glitch) Cons: -art style actually seems a hodge-podge and, while the developer has clarified there was never any mobile release intent (see comment thread below), it does have a "mobile game" feel to it because of some of the, um, similarities of other assets to other IPs (the evil doctor is totally Rick from Rick & Morty, the construction guys are definitely Lego, and so on) -the gameplay, i.e. the most important part of any game, is lackluster and boring --plane combat is beyond simple and boils down to simply keeping the brake and gun buttons held down while facing the general direction of the enemies until all are destroyed by attrition --plane control is odd, i.e. pitch and a hybrid of roll/yaw is on the left stick while the left and right bumpers function solely as yaw, so f…

Good game! Short and sweet, but good value for money and quite a lot of potential for expansion.

Love a good air combat game. This title provides a solid dose of that and is fun to play with the younger ones who are just getting into video games. The studio also added a lot of nice touches, like the death-star style escapes. Runs very well on the MSI claw. I'd say that if this looks like something you'd like, you probably won't be disappointed. And can we get cloud saves please? This is very much a PC+steam deck combo game.

Fun game that does not over charge for its price point. Charming world and fun gameplay!
