Knights in Tight Spaces

Got this in a bundle, otherwise I would refund. Loved the first one despite its quirks, and looked forward to how they would polish the formula, yet somehow they managed to make a game that is worse in almost every way imaginable. I cannot imagine why I would ever play this over FiTS - UI and UX seems amaturish to be frank. Same icon on enemies for "has target" and "turn order"??? no keyword highlight or info on cards, so I don't even know what I'm choosing??? No mouse-over info on anything??? Health represented by the universally agreed upon "regen" symbol? - New systems all just suck. Lower difficulty makes you always draw certain categories of cards?? The gear mechanic is a poor excuse for the relics in other roguelikes. Consumables are boring rewards. Playing multiple levels packed together and then getting the rewards for each individual level afterwards makes no sense. - The powerfantasy and the art both fit better with the spy theme. The first one looked like a tarantino movie-poster, this one looks like someone put an ugly filter over the most basic dnd sprites you've ever seen. im still playing it. im still having fun. but if i had the option id pick a "partially recommend" if i could. I'll be comparing this game with its predecessor "Fights in Tight Spaces" a lot, since I've played plenty of both. PROS: -being able to buy new weapons and gear is the best new addition -much better story than "fights in tight spaces" -Reward system for meeting objectives more interesting than "stat up, money, heals, cards" the previous game had. PROS DESPITE WHAT OTHER REVIEWERS THINK -manuscript visual style fits well theme -you can trick enemies into putting themselves into positions when they can be pushed off the map particularly when dealing with more than one enemy. Certain cards can actually make the "avoid being knocked off map" positions ideal for knocking them off the map like "backslam" and "swap" MAJOR CONS: -completely broken ragdolls where the bodies flop and contort like unconnected body parts held together by stretchy skin. They did the ragdolling right in Fights in Tight Spaces, I don't know why they cant do it correctly here. -too tedious when trying to build your own deck with a specific card you want. easily fixed by adding a redo button at the end …

I really wanted to like this game. I loved the first game. But there are so many flaws that, over a year after release, have not been addressed: -Tool tips are terrible. A mechanic may be explained once, but never again. And you can't look it up. Hovering over a some things may or may not explain it. -I went to recruit a fourth member of the party. The game says you can't. I didn't know that You can't SKIP the new member, though. You are forced to give up an existing party member, that you already have cards and items for. -Some power cards provide buffs for the duration of the fight. Once you use it, there is no way to tell if it is working or what it does. -You are choosing between paths on the map. Want to know what the reward will be for this fight? Too bad. It is an obscure icon.

It's CRIMINAL this game is mixed. This being worse than Fights in Tight Spaces is so subjective, I think this is just as awesome. Banger soundtrack, like always, and the added teammate/party play with 3 characters (multiple classes as well btw) is a huge progression of the formula here. The presentation of the story and even the levels reminds me so much of games from an era long past. When you rotate the camera, buildings and objects disappear and re-appear like a pop-up book. How can you not recommend this game at the price? I picked it up for $5 on a sale, that's less than a coffee at most places. Eat ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ass after an hour session of diarrhea if you really put this game down for not recommended.

Clever small-area tactics game. Really challenging and requires careful evaluation of possible moves (in combat), and party composition / purchases (outside combat).

Loved Fight in Tight Spaces. More of the same but better, just what I wanted.
