Block Fortress 2

Still has that classic charm I remember. I hope they bring the original back too though. I miss the style of that game which some of it has been lost now. Not a completely bad thing, but I especially wish we still had the old turret models. They were so iconic.

Loved the original, love this one. Its such a unique take on base building and tower defense, I'm surprised this isn't a bigger game to be honest. The devs seem super passionate as well, the recent coop update has been a blast to play with my friend who also played the og.

It's Block Fortress, with a bit of Block Fortress War mixed in and the aesthetic of Empires. It has the classic Block Fortress gameplay of constructing a fortress with blocks then facing off waves of enemies, however significantly more content has been added and some changes made, not all of which I agree with. All the civilisations from BF:W have been added as enemies you can face. You can fight the Blockoids, Blockbots or Zomblocks, and in some battles towards the middle or later games, both can show up on the same battefield. This I personally think is a good change as it does mean you will have to adapt your tactics, albeit you may have to swap out your turrets. Another interesting feature from BF:W is friendly troops. You can spend your resources on hiring friendly Blockmen who can help you defend, ranging from mech suits to rocket launchers. There are some things I'm not too fond of though. Unit/equipment/block levels were a thing that were added, with you having to spend your rare minerals to upgrade your items to make sure they stay ahead of the enemies weapons.
