About Witcheye
Witcheye is a new approach to platforming with a free movement dash through the air. Players are able to stop on a spot, reverse direction, or alter their course at will. Bounce into devilish little beasts, snag collectables and make it to the goal of each level however possible.
Designer Peter Malamud Smith was the co-creator (with Charlie Hoey) of the viral hit The Great Gatsby For NES, and creator of the well-received mobile action puzzlers Satellina and Satellina Zero.

What Steam players say

Players appreciate the charming pixel art, music, and creative concept of blending brick-breaker and platformer mechanics, but find the execution inconsistent and controls not quite tight enough. Several reviewers felt bored or underwhelmed by the gameplay itself, and one criticized the progression system for locking harder difficulties behind initial playthroughs rather than allowing direct access, which discouraged replays.
"Witcheye" is a great and simple game that got me by suprise! It really looks and sounds amazing, the pixelart and worldbuilding is colorful and crisp, the OST just slaps, it's nostalgic and funky! Gameplaywise it's quite simple: You play a floating eyeball and you basically just move or stop in place controlwise. It is a little weird at first and feels a little basic, but the whole leveldesign is centered around it and everything fits in just nicely in the end (but some of the collectibles can be a litle too hidden in my opininon). Sadly it is quite short, you can 100% beat the game on "Normal" difficulty in 2 hours, but luckily there are two more difficulties plus speedrun and other challenge achievements. Try it out! It is definetly worth the price and quite an unique experience!1 found this helpful
It's good. The gameplay feels fresh because you have full mobility as a ball. The game is pretty (for the genre), and there's enough variety to keep things fun throughout the short campaign. Only a few sections require more precision than this kind of control scheme can provide, which creates some frustrating moments. Finding the collectibles and secrets is part of the fun, though some of them are so well hidden that I had to look them up on YouTube. 6/101 found this helpful
I think blocking you from starting on harder difficulties is a mistake. In my case, I won't be playing the game all over again after doing it once just because now it is a little harder. I would just done it on a harder difficult from start.1 found this helpful
Quick review because this game is also quick You play as a witch who got her sh*t stolen by some knight A**hole, and she gets so p*ssed she turns into a giant flying eyeball to go m*rder him, peak plot, no notes, that's all the story you need and the game knows it The gimmick is you control the eyeball's direction with swipes and bounce into enemies. Sounds dumb but is weirdly fun. It's simple but it works, and the game doesn't overstay its welcome I beat on normif*g in one sitting, which is either a criticism or a blessing depending on how much of your life you want to lose, for me is refreshing after every game nowadays demanding 80 hours of your soul The pixel art is gorgeous, it gave me Mickey Mouse The Magical Quest and Kirby Super Star vibes, super colorful, chunky, clean. Whoever did the art knew what they were doing. The music has some Sonicish energy, could be a bit better but that's just my autism speaking and it doesn't get annoying so it gets a pass from me. That's high praise for me, I mute most indie games within 10 minutes Difficulty spikes a bit here and there and your eyeball will occasionally decide to yeet itself into spikes, but that's a skill issue (mine, …
This game has charm. Plenty of other games have charm. This game has good music. Plenty of games have good music. After around World 3, everything about this game design wise just falls apart. On mouse at least, controls are fiddly and inaccurate. Maybe it's a different experience on controller. It's only 5 dollars, but I constantly found myself wishing I had just bought something else.
Really charming. Fun + fantastic pixel art.
