Dude, Where Is My Beer?

[h1][b][u]BottomLine at the Top:[/u][/b][/h1] Tedious at times but oddly enjoyable. [h1][b][u]Intro:[/u][/b][/h1] I had to pick this one up based on the goofy name alone. Plus the whole "middle-aged-protagonist finds himself in an incomprehensible world while searching for booze" aspect speaks to me on a deep level ;) [h1][b][u]Pros:[/u][/b][/h1] -Funny dialogue -Detailed sprite animations -The game just has kind of a cozy feel to it. Very "Hygge", even if it's about a middle aged guy in search of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ beer. [h1][b][u]Meh...:[/u][/b][/h1] -No Voice Acting. Not a big deal, but I think it could have opened some comedic opportunities for this title. -Only four save slots. Short game so no biggie, but still... -Occasional bug would pop up where character disappears and dialogue box appears in the upper right hand corner. -Two of the puzzles require you to make THE MOST ESOTERIC MOON LOGIC ITEM EVER IN A POINT AND CLICK GAME. Big marks on concept and atmosphere. Some of the music is honestly fantastic. Puzzle design tho is really where this game stumbles a bit. Hate to be negative at all on an indie in a genre I love but it's difficult to ignore how random some of the progression is. There's almost no reasoning sometimes to deduce what to do next you just have to wander around and maybe figure out that some piece of trash is interactable now or something. It's quite confusing. I really avoid using guides and it became obvious that I wasn't cheating myself of much of the game to figure out some of the time shift based puzzles... or the fact that you get the same animation but different text if you open or use a newspaper and those differences totally block your progress. Then the game ends suddenly with a wait for a sequel to conclude the story. I will be playing the sequel when it comes out but I hope they give more attention to making more rational puzzle designs. It's not hand holding to have a deductible path besides talking to everyone and seeing if something randomly changed because you picked something up and time shifted.

Not a fan of game changing level elements without reason nor letting you know, just for quest progression. However I love the game design and dialog. Very charming.

A quaint short graphic adventure game that likes to poke fun at itself and the genre. Unfortunately, the puzzles are exceedingly incoherent, even for typical adventure gaming moon logic. Any enjoyment there might have been to be had was undermined by constantly fighting the game. Ultimately, the narrative is unsatisfying and the puzzles feel so disjointed that solving them doesn't feel rewarding. The visual design is fun, and was part of what drew me to it. A shame that's the only enjoyable part.

Firstly, I was charmed by the visual style and aesthetics. But after that, I encountered a typical problem of point-and-click games: only the creator knows the correct chain of actions needed to solve a puzzle, especially when it comes to combining items. It's very frustrating. It's hard to complete the game without a video walkthrough. Don't waste your time.
