Jumpala

Game is a little pricey for what it is and the only way your going to get an online match is using the discord server, but the gameplay is pretty unique and the stage variation decent. On sale it is worth a buy. 7/10

Jumpala is a compact but striking competitive platformer that distinguishes itself through a clever blend of territory control, fast movement, and character-driven abilities. Rather than relying on direct combat, the game builds its tension around capturing platforms as they rise and fall, creating a constant push-and-pull rhythm where every second matters. Each match begins with a tower of numbered platforms, and players race to jump across them, claiming each one for their color before the platform drops away. As the tower ascends, the urgency escalates—platforms vanish, rivals close in, and the points you secure on the way up determine the winner. This simple premise quickly becomes a strategic puzzle, especially when you factor in characters’ unique powers and the unpredictable flow of competition. The core gameplay feels easy to grasp yet difficult to master. Movement is tight, responsive, and designed for quick tactical decisions. Capturing a platform rewards points when it eventually falls, but positioning yourself for the next jump—or disrupting an opponent’s claim—requires far more planning than it seems at first glance. Looks like a fun game until you play it. The main strategy is to puppy-guard the bottom row so that you can be sure to be the last player on a platform. This is problematic because: 1) very fast pace - you'll spend the entire round hammering away on the controller 2) you'll get bored by the lack of depth 3) the AI, even on easy, does not make many mistakes and is prone to near-perfect timing The characters are not balanced and some special powers are clearly overpowered. If they had spent more time on the mechanics to make it a cool, strategically deep platforming game, instead of "Bottom Dog Russian Roulette", this game could have had a lot more potential.

I want to like it, but the struggle with the frame rate makes it a hard pass.

The game itself is decently fun just fighting against the computer and the art in the game is really nice, however a lot of my enjoyment faded when I tried to 100% the game. The Computer on harder difficulties makes it near impossible to win unless you play perfectly the whole game, not to mention that some of the achievements are borderline impossible to get either do to the time sink needed to get them, or the fact the computer is too good and will prevent you from completing the challenges. While the game is well made with good art and fun characters, the gameplay often boils down to who can stay at the bottom the longest without dying, and the loop devolves into a game of chicken where one player snowballs while the other struggles to keep up. This would be fine because of the point stealing system, but it sacrifices your super bar, and doesn't provide you all that many points. Its a little expensive for what you get, but all the same I enjoyed the game and would pick it up if your a fan of party games, but know that its a far from perfect game.

Having played for a bit and experienced all the characters and abilities, I tried the hard mode for a bit to see what the game is like when played computer-optimally. Turns out it kinda sucks and relies pretty heavily on quick math and luck, so I wouldn't really recommend it to a hardcore audience, and it's too complicated to make for a fun casual game, so I don't really know who this is for.
