Rogue (2020)

I don't seem to be able to leave a comment on it so I'm gunna address the person with the wild username and negative vote in the reviews here and say this is my first time playing Rogue but this version's been great, and that they didn't add the QOL updates that user wanted simply because it's stated in the description on the store page, this is released as a very specific port of Rogue, and almost all those options already exist in this version of the game. Hitting F1 or ? Brings up a list of all the possible commands in the game, and hitting S (not s, gotta be a capital S) to save your game and return to it later (when you leave the game this way, launch it from your steam library and you'll be asked if you want to start a new run or continue your previous one. Which, from what I can find online, actually is easier than the original way). Beyond that though I don't blame anyone who doesn't enjoy it, it's a very different game from those that we have today and could be frustrating if you took it too seriously, but as long as you're okay with the game not being fair and are willing to laugh it off when the dungeon's just out to kill you it's a fun way to unwind and kill some tim…

I wish I had anything good to say about this. I really do. To be clear I think rogue is an incredible game that is absolutely woth playing, but this isn't the way to do so. Despite being basicaly the only paid, closed source version of rogue online, this has no QOL features, not config options, not even a proper save and continue on a later play session function. By far and away this is the worst way to experience the game. And you have to pay to play said worst release of the game. If there was any effort what so ever to make the steam version more playable out of the box so to speak, then I'd say it has some merit. But again, there are no settings for display resolution, view/change keybinds, or even a single change from the 1985 release aside from being sold on steam and running in dosbox. Do not listen to the positive reviews, they aren't wrong for the most part, they are just reviewing rogue, not this release of it.

What can I say, it started it all... Plus, it's different each run...

Still as addictive as today's best.

i am a HUGE FAN of rogue-likes and rogue-lites and i tryed to run this on browsers but didn't work but its worth the few bucks to play the game that started it all.
