NETHACK: LEGACY is a remastered version of the original NetHack, the deeply rich and complex fantasy D&D roguelike. Hack and slash your way through orcs, dragons, and cockatrices as you explore the perilous procedurally-generated dungeons seeking the Amulet of Yendor.
NetHack is an open source, deeply immersive roguelike that has been under development for over three decades. The work of the NetHack DevTeam and hundreds of contributors from over the years have created a deep and highly interactive world, where armor rusts from getting wet, scrolls burn from catching on fire, and bright flashes of light blind you. But the immersion goes both ways: grease your armor so the water rolls off, place your scrolls in a bag to protect them, and shield your eyes with a blindfold! The depth and complexity between game mechanics has given rise to the well-deserved credo: "The DevTeam Thinks of Everything."

Nethack is the oldest, hardest, and most valuable game I've ever played. You can think of it like a DnD session with the computer being your DM, while you are the lone party member. Your objective is always the same, but the means in which you get there, as well as the various obstacles stopping you, vary dramatically across different playthroughs. Please note that what you are paying for is a third-party mod for Nethack that applies various UI and QoL changes to the game. You can download the original Nethack for free [url=https://www.nethack.org/common/index.html]from their website,[/url] or you can [url=https://alt.org/nethack/]play online on your browser,[/url] also for free. I only recommend this product to people already familiar with NetHack and who are specifically seeking the Steam features exclusive to this release. As for the review for this product, it's [url=https://www.nethack.org/v362/release.html]NetHack 3.6.2[/url] bundled with a CRT filter, soundtrack, and achievements, so expect all the bugs and quirks of that particular flavor of NetHack. Game is compiled with only SDL as a valid windowtype so perm_invent (inventory on the side of the screen) unfortunately doesn't work here for all of us windowtype:curses superfans. This game is very much like the original that I've played since the grey and green DOS versions from the 80's. This is a fun, difficult, throwback game, and if you're okay with basically never winning, you'll enjoy it too. The fun is in learning the commands, and taking the journey - just like with life. Aren't we all just ASCII characters and symbols trying to make it in this dungeon?1 found this helpful
TRULY a Rogue-like, unlike most of what that label is thrust upon these days. In fact, it IS Rogue with a few little extra flourishes. If OG Rogue is your thing, you'll probably like this and its somewhat fresh approach on its aesthetic, design and gameplay.
