About Before Closure

What would you think, hear, and see
when you find a box of items from a past relationship that has long been left behind?

Before Closure is a first-person immersive narrative game.As Murph, you’re getting ready to move out when you discover a box of belongings left behind by your ex, Georgie.
Together with Murph, you’ll sort through what’s inside—and decide how to face a relationship that never truly got closure.Memories surface as you handle each item. Using your webcam, the game detects when you blink:
close your eyes to slip into a memory, and open them to return and move forward.

Features

  • First-person immersive narrative experience
A story-driven game with no combat or puzzles - just you, the objects, and the memories they hold.
  • Eye-tracking interaction
Use your real eyes to engage: Closing your eyes triggers key moments in the story.
  • Deeply interactive object storytelling
A box of forgotten mementos, each tied to a fragment of memory. Even the smallest of items carries great meaning.
  • Sound-driven narrative immersion
When you close your eyes, audio becomes your guide—voices, memories, and sounds draw you into Murph’s inner world.
Attention: For the full experience with blink interaction, please use a webcam.  All eye-tracking data is processed locally in real-time and is never stored or uploaded.

Characters

Murph
An ordinary girl who has never seen herself as special, and never truly faced her emotions. But while packing to move, she discovers the old box she has been avoiding. The memories inside refuse to stay buried, and with them, the possibility of closure.Georgie

Strongly recommend this game if you enjoy a good meditative experience with a wholesome narrative, you get to unwrap a bittersweet story about a past relationship with innovative mechanic with closing your eyes. The story really made me emotional and I teared up several times on my first run, it made me think about my own past and also how to make closures moving forward.
The ambiance mode
was a surprised but cool addition to unlock, will definitely try to get to all the possible endings and see how murph and georgie ends up at.

A short but very satisfying play! the mechanic of closing your eyes to listen to the narrative really remixes the impact of a traditional cutscene, and I really like the voice acting. The story is poignant and even though the protag is female the game is more than a little sad boy, and I mean that in the best way possible. It's an impressively emotional journey and has a high production value, making it well worth the price. Also, the director of Before your Eyes consulted on it, and it shows!

I've played the English version on my friend's laptop and started the Chinese version on this account. I did not get very far on the Chinese version because the voiceover is a bit cringy. The tech is super cool and the mechanic is very meditative. It is 10/10 as an alt control experimental game. Absolutely go into this to appreciate the hard work of that! However, I feel that it does not completely meet the expectation as a narrative game. As a love and closure story, there's some confusion as to what each character wants or needs. I wish I understood the individual characters more: does Murph want to get married? does she worry about meeting Georgie's standards? I understand some of it is implied but there is also an overarching theme were Georgie tells Murph what to do and what to feel, even towards the end. There's something really sad about a women's story of closure ending with a man's words telling them this and that, etc etc. Their biggest fight also feels small. I think what makes love so hard is that it targets our deepest insecurities, I expected to understand Murph's personal insecurities and why Georgie soothes or triggers them. (Is Georgie's insecurity just lack…

Its a very unique and interesting interactive narrative piece. I really like how focused it is on pursuing the unique mechanic of closing the eyes to progress the plot, make decisions and remember things from your character's past. It feels very very good, It left me almost wanting to control the whole game just with my eyes. I also loved how tactile all the objects feel, the small interactions with all the objects made them feel very immersive and real. I just wanted to keep moving them around, admiring their buttons, textures, colors and different interactions. Would recommend for sure!
