Monsters of Little Haven, developed and published by Missing Calm, is a charming and heartwarming narrative-driven adventure that explores themes of friendship, acceptance, and the complexities of childhood imagination. Set in a small, quiet town called Little Haven, the game invites players into a beautifully crafted world filled with quirky characters and gentle storytelling. At its core, it’s an exploration of the bonds we form and the inner monsters—both real and imagined—that shape our experiences growing up. The gameplay centers around interactions with a diverse cast of townsfolk and the titular monsters that inhabit the nearby forest. Players take on the role of a young protagonist who discovers these gentle creatures, each with their own unique personalities and stories. Unlike typical monster-themed games that focus on combat or action, Monsters of Little Haven emphasizes exploration and emotional connection. Players navigate a vibrant, hand-painted world, solving light puzzles and engaging in meaningful conversations that deepen the sense of community and belonging. This approach creates a laid-back experience where the focus is on discovery and empathy rather than chal…

a lot of bugs. not sure if it's intentional but can't skip the credits afaik and after the credits, it doesn't take me back to the main menu, just sits on the ending screen so I have to alt+f4 to reopen. sometimes near the end of the game, a scene will repeat then abruptly skip to the credits so I can't see the full ending. 100%ing isn't optimized so boo. also the fading in and out of black after every click is sooo annoying to me idk why but I hate it. the writing is ok, nice art, nice soundtrack, story was good. the ending i got in my first playthrough (twinge) did shock me, didn't see it coming.

Very nice visual novel game with great atmosphere. It's slow because each frame has a fade transition, which is rather annoying, but you can play through the entire game pretty quickly (my long playtime is just due to playing in Russian, which I'm not that good at). You can't save in the middle of chapters, and there's no skip feature for dialogue you've already seen, which I'm not stoked about either, but otherwise, the game is very nice. The artwork and overall atmosphere are excellent, there's full voice acting (well, it's just one guy reading, but still), and the story is good, creepy, and sad. There's quite a bit of variation between endings. The writing itself is not exactly amazing, but the story is very enjoyable. Overall, great game.
