PalmRide is a compact retro driving game that understands that atmosphere can be just as important as mechanical complexity. Developed and published by Pixelbois, it takes inspiration from classic arcade road games while wrapping the experience in synthwave, vaporwave, Future Funk, and 1980s imagery. The result is less of a traditional racing game and more of an endless high-speed road trip where survival, reflexes, score chasing, and enjoying the scenery are the main attractions. The driving is intentionally easy to understand. Your objective is essentially to stay on the road for as long as possible while dealing with traffic and increasingly unusual obstacles. Reckless motorists and police vehicles are joined by stranger hazards such as arcade-inspired robots, giant objects, tunnels, hills, and other surprises. Collisions can abruptly end a promising run, so the challenge gradually becomes one of concentration and reaction speed. PalmRide does not attempt realistic vehicle physics, and that works in its favor when viewed as an arcade experience. I call this game Midnight Motorist 2 cuz it reminds me of that minigame from fnaf pizzeria simulator. Anyway, Cool game! You can put your own music too so that's a plus! I love the vibes. Nice to come back to every once in a while.

Boring unless you enjoy racing in a traffic jam. At first I hated how often I was dying and restarting but then I realized there's pretty much no difference. Highly repetitive with surviving being the only goal. No reason to go fast either, safer to putz along so you don't slam in to the hazards all over the road.
