Rise of the Cones: Planetary Defense

PROS: I had zero crashes during my playthrough, and I’m currently on the final two maps for the level 60 challenges. Overall, I found the game entertaining. It’s certainly not amazing, its just..... OK. I’ll probably finish everything at around 7 hours of total playtime. For $10, getting roughly 7 hours of entertainment seems pretty reasonable to me. If that sounds worth it to you, grab it. CONS: Performance could be a serious problem if you have an older PC or lower-end hardware (compare to my specs). Based on how demanding things become later in the game, I could easily see anything above level 30 or so causing crashes or major issues. The other problem is that I didn’t actually find the game very challenging. That’s probably my biggest complaint, and it almost made me give the game a negative review. I don’t consider myself especially good at these types of games, or games in general, yet very little strategy was required to complete almost everything. Most of the game can be beaten with minimal planning or thought. There’s definitely some low-to-mid-level entertainment value here, although I can’t quite put my finger on what keeps me playing. I love a good tower defence game. And this one is very promising. Bought it with 25% off, bringing it down to around £7. Already played over 7 hours so it passes the £1 per hour test. However. There are 5 levels, 6 if you include the training level. All are well designed and provide a decent challenge on each of the three difficulties. Towers are good, the usual mix of AOE, bullets and enhancer builds. Overall, a decent game, worth the money and with room to expand.

I had a lot of fun playing this one. It's great to mix and match tower types and find the best solution for different waves. Hopefully more levels are added down the road! A bit short to beat, but you can always try again with different combinations.

This is the best Tower Defense game I have played in many years. It takes a while to get into the game and learn and upgrade system. There are many options available, and there are many more to unlock as you play. I hope the developers release more Maps, and new Tower options to unlock.

Honestly disappointed. I was expecting Defense Grid and got basically 25% of a game. There are VERY few levels....Like 6 total. The scaling is unbalanced but I think that is because the game is so short. It actually has wonderful potential, but there isn't enough of it and I can't recommend it without at least 4 times the content. Another thing the developer should think about is throwing in some "fun maps" that aren't trying to be overly challenging, but simply fun to play. The worst killer is that on level 3 difficulty the game crashes when the mob count gets high.....It's horrible and took me like an hour to get through the 60 waves because it simply glitched and froze for so long. Unacceptable! Do not buy this unless you see some serious updates come through. This is NOT a game yet! It's basically a buggy demo I had to pay for!
