Make War

Got this game after the publicity it got initially and really did enjoy the concept, but altogether the actual execution of the game wasn't great and all work has ceased on it since then. It's essentially a husk of a demo occupying the space where a game was supposed to be eventually. Laissez-faire!

Make War is a somewhat unusual game. While it appears to be an RTS, it certainly isn't, it's more like a tower defense. You're presented with a static battlefield, the battle will resolve itself automatically, you have no control over the troops. But you can pause the game and put down "towers", not actually towers, but soldiers or mines or other traps to influence the flow of the battle. So it has more in common with a mobile app tower defense than a real PC game. There's also the problem of the comically horrible Engrish they used... it's like Google Translate had a stroke. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game features lazy low-polygon voxel "Minecraft"-like "art", making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the 1990s. A lot of amateur developers see Minecraft's success and assume it's because it looks bad, not because it had unique and appealing game mechanics, and they try to emulate the success without understanding it.
