Towerful Defense: A Rogue TD, developed by Mini Fun Games and published by Mini Fun Games together with Gamersky Games, takes the familiar structure of tower defense and reshapes it into something more immediate and hands-on. Instead of managing a network of defenses spread across a map, the game centers everything around a single tower that the player directly controls. This design choice dramatically changes the feel of the genre, shifting the focus from long-term placement strategy to moment-to-moment decision-making, where survival depends on how well you react, adapt, and build your tower over the course of each run. The core gameplay loop is built around defending against waves of enemies that approach from all directions. Because there is only one tower, every threat feels personal, and there is little room for passive play. The tower can attack in a full 360-degree radius, but managing its abilities, timing attacks, and prioritizing targets becomes increasingly demanding as the game progresses. I can recommend Towerful Defense to you as a decent tower defense game that you can turn into an auto-battler if you prefer (I did)--but only if you can get it on sale. After about 6 hours, I beat the game with every available character (tower) except a new bonus one that is really weirdly built. Once that was wrapped up, I didn't feel compelled to keep playing. I might just uninstall it soon. However, for those 6 hours of gameplay, I was having a good amount of fun. I really hope the dev adds more towers and abilities (for free, mind you) in the future; that would pull me right back in. Try to get it for $5 if you like TD games.

Pretty good TD that can be an idler to an extent (if you go with only one skill) or active (max skills). Good replayability, definitely worth the cost.

There's definitely promise here, but as with a lot of the other negative reviews, the balance is off. I've only "won" a single game and it's entirely because of the boss that I've lost many runs. The boss is a giant pile of HP that you either kill or survive for 90 seconds (and it does melee damage to your tower every tick as it flies over you, oh you stunned it? It still deals damage to you during that time (as far as I can tell)). Problem is, most build strategies can't deal with the boss. You go from utterly slaughtering the enemies handily to getting your face kicked in just because "its wave 20 now." There's even a tower that makes tower bullets HEAL enemies and only your skills can deal damage and kill (but are hard-capped at 1 damage per hit due to a -9999% skill damage debuff). I have no idea how this mode is supposed to even be tackled. I think my best is 7 waves.

Just barely scratched the surface after several hours, and so far this is a wonderful example of a "just one more" game. If you like tower defense, this is mini-bites of it, over and over, with lots of trade-offs to manage during each run. Lots of fun and lots to explore.
