About Diari

Diari is a puzzle platformer at the least but can vary in its different styles of gameplay being compared to a souls-like or a Metroidvania. The game takes inspiration from platformers such as Celeste and Hollow Knight while still keeping its own identity and provides an unexplored concept in which you can see in many top-down RPGs where you can communicate directly to the character.

Enter Ekrose
A world full of dreams and eternal knowledge, built on the foundation of experimentation. It's Aimacra's goal to find her friend but as you accompany her you'll go through bosses, rush hours, rhythm-based sequences, and a lot of platforming and various puzzles to keep the both of you on your feet!
Are you prepared?
The game gets progressively more difficult, although it ramps up due to expression of mechanics rather than extremely high skill bars. As you traverse the world the game has very different concepts and mechanics to represent the area, sometimes creating a puzzle that can replicate the increase of difficulty.
Why this game?
Diari can provide an experience I can confidently say that you will not have felt in any other game. Mainly because the game is so heavily story and player-driven, that this game gifts expression in ways I cannot explain. I have put my best foot forward and I'm hoping you enjoy this project nearly as much as I have.

It's truly charming visually, with a lovely style and great music to boot! But I wouldn't attach this project with a game- at least, not this kind of game. The gameplay feels way to experimental to be final. It's a fine story, but the game it's attached to holds it back. A lot of the mechanics feel very unpolished. The main jumps (I'll call it the ABA standard) occasionally get delayed when i press them, and the height varies in degrees that feel more up to chance than timing. I'll have times where my B jump doubles the height of my A and others when it doesn't even cover 1/3 the height. For a precision platformer, the acceleration feels totally out of wack - i can zoom to the other side of a corridor with a second of pressing left or right, which makes tight spaces with spikes nearly impossible with the micro-tapping i need to do on my keys. And the roll gives you invincibility, but I can't ever tell when I'll be able to move again or use it after cooldown. I'm gonna stay on spikes for a little bit. Why are their hitboxes square? And why have health canisters if they kill you instantly anyways? The projectiles that actually matter when it comes to health just feel like tiny gnat…

An interesting world with very weak movement mechanics. Character motion is very abrupt and is nearly unplayable with the analog stick of the controller. I didn't go through the time trying to make it work with the D-Pad, but you will likely get better results with keyboard. That being said, there's many places where you have to land and maneuver in spaces that require micro adjustment of your movement where pushing an arrow for a second longer than it takes to register means dying and resetting a whole sequence. The presence of two (kinda three) forms of jump is interesting, but also rather overwhelming when alternating them as needed. The first timed sequence is just stupid as is the first boss. It might get better, but it's wasted enough of my time with unforgiving spikes that are easier to walk into when trying to jump than interesting to engage with. Very weird how it withholds health mechanics, but then those mechanics mean nothing more than handling bullet spam during some sections rather than insisting on pixel perfect accuracy of the endless spikes that still oneshot you.

Only recommend if you are a platformer vet. Fun game with smooth movement, but as a platformer noob this game is completely inaccessible. Only play this game if you have a few years of platformer experience and good motor skills.

。。 (世界A)OK!New game! QWQ Here is the English translation for your review. I have tried to keep the tone passionate and critical, matching your original text, while making it sound natural in English. Bilingual Translation (Chinese-English) 1.》Me: Today is March 9, 2026. This is a summary and a sharp critique after playing Diari for so long. I came here from the Terraria mod just to support the author, but I didn't expect the game to be this speechless! (I ha…
