Blackjack Hands

[h3]Contrary to its name, [b]Blackjack Hands[/b] is, in fact, [url=https://asherv.com/threes/]a trumped up version of Threes[/url], a sliding tile puzzle from almost a decade ago. What makes this math merger different is its use of colors and an Ace, that loosely follows the premise of Blackjack. Though its UI is excellent, its lack of tutorial and use of hidden cards makes the game more frustrating than it needs to be.[/h3] The objective of this [i]Hands[/i] is to create a sum that meets or beats a predetermined "dealer" total per stage. Alternatively, matching 21 at any time is an instant win, even without merging every available card into one. Sounds simple? Well, not so fast... there are inaccessible tiles that don't allow cards to be slid into, "pit" tiles that eat a displayed number of cards on contact, and hidden or facedown cards (in all directions) that don't enter the playing field until you start moving around the board. Oh, and we didn't mention the three "suits," represented only by colors, that have a sort of rock-paper-scissors dominance as to what takes precedence when combined. Contrary to what you'd expect, two of the same color cannot be merged. And finally, Ace…

Simple card game based on Threes and Blackjack. A relaxing experience.

Blackjack Hands is a simplistic Unity based puzzle game where you must shift cards around and match them using the basic rules of Blackjack scoring as the key puzzle solution element. Or it would be if it worked, the developer hasn't bothered testing this and it doesn't work properly on newer versions of Windows 10/11. Cards can't be moved or manipulated, it's a dead screen. This is below the level of quality you'd see from a shovelware mobile app, let alone a PC game. There's no resolution or control options. Low quality 2D visuals and crappy card assets round out the very poor experience here. All this is unremarkable, of course, there's literally thousands of shovelware games on Steam. Of course because the game is broken for me and likely will be for the millions of other gamers on Steam, it's impossible to recommend even if it wasn't browser/mobile tier shovelware. Blackjack hands (which actually has nothing to do with Blackjack) ends up being more frustrating than fun. Firstly the lack of any tutorial is a major issue. I started off the game with no clue what to do and restarted the game a few times thinking it was broken till II just started hitting every single button and found out you need too use the arrow keys to move stuff around and it's nothing like blackjack, it's more closely related to 2048 but with more annoying and confusing features. There are many random rules that are never explained such as not being able to match colors, new hidden cards coming in from the side, and so on. With nothing ever being explained and not being able to see the cards that are going to come in to this math game you'll honestly have better luck just spamming the arrow keys sudo randomly. I've played other games from this dev and quite liked those games, however, this one is just not it.

You have cards in a grid and move them around with your arrow keys to stack and add them up to beat the dealer's hand or make a blackjack. The trick is, in some cases, not all cards will help you reach blackjack, so you must carefully plan what you will add up and how you move your cards as to not go bust. Also took me a while to notice, but it seems similarly colored cards do not add up, which adds a little extra layer to the puzzle. Simple, minimalistic and good for what it's worth (got it for a few dimes). Doesn't overstay it's welcome with it's 50 levels and can be 100%'d in about half an hour.
