Why don't they laugh?

[h1][b]No laughs here, just the sound of crickets[/b][/h1] So starting up the game, it doesn't detect resolutions above 1920x1200. Not clear if a multi-monitor setup has any influence on that. I was able to find where to go beyond 1200p by sifting through file directories until I stumbled across GameUserSettnigs.ini located in this file path: SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Why don't they laugh\Kensington_Hall\Saved\Config\Windows. From there you can set the resolution among any other setting that may not be shown in the main menu....or so I thought. Even after that change, the game will force override the resolution back to 1200p or 1080p. There is no controller support from the main menu or indication that there is controller support prior to starting the game, you also can't access the pause menu when using a controller. FPS cap only allows for 30 or 60, 120 should at least also be added in my opinion. There isn't any way to change the FOV either. Also the header & capsule images in the Steam client are misspelled to "Why don't they laught?", bit of a peculiar oversight. i initially gave this a poor rating. I was able to complete the game, i had missed a trigger that allowed me to continue which was my human error. that being said there are still many bugs in this game, some are fixed with a reload. doors still opening when something happens and you shouldn't be able to open doors at the end before making a choice. flashlight bobbing up and down and walking. items like the folders re spawning. These problems happened after i reloaded into the game following a save. so if you want to avoid most of the bugs, play through in one setting, which may take a long time if you want to find all the items. tip. also explore as much as you can BEFORE you turn in those folders to the guy. It did have a good story if you read everything. good music and atmosphere and voice overs.

Really like the game so far! The story is stellar, the atmosphere is spot on for a haunted house, and the amount of things to look at and read is absolutely phenomenal! Is there some stuttering in the game? Yes. Does is affect gameplay? Not really since it is so minimal. Are there going to be things jumping out at you every five minutes? No. I felt that this was more of a 'true to life' haunted house situation. Some frights are subtle and others are more in your face. But they are well timed and spaced out to have maximum effect and keep you feeling slightly on edge while exploring. This was an enjoyable game for me. The experience within the Kensington manor was haunting, and thrilling. It was nice to spend time finding books and information that looked into the lives of the people who lived and performed here; which made it easy to become invested in finding more. My only complaint was the "voice acting". It didn't line up as well with the mood of the story or what was happening in the moment, but other than a chuckle it didn't ruin the game for me. I would have loved the outside to be more tied into the story, as it looked and sounded good for something you essentially walk through and ignore. Finally as a premise of the game you play April; a home nurse who is tasked with helping Mr. Kensington get the family home ready to sell. You will find a lot of clues into the family dynamic for those who performed here, lived here, and were *spoiler* experimented on here.... This game will take a turn into the jump scare when you try to help Lily after you have successfully helped Tom find the missing Manor documents. I enjoyed my time with the ghosts of the circus more than I enjoyed the frankly weird and anticlimactic modern story happening in game. I don't understand either ending and don't understand how those choices correlate to the endings they get. I don't understand what happens to the *blank* if you get the opposite ending. Deader? Disappears? Who knows! What was the object? How did it all connect? I've lost my mind contemplating the deeper meanings of this game- a game that has the depth of a puddle is drowning me. It's frustrating because the atmosphere is really cool! I want to know more. Instead we're almost given an interesting story then it ends abruptly and in the weirdest way possible. I understand that...there might be motivations for one particular ending but it's so abrupt that it loses all sense of meaning. Disregarding all of that as being potentially a personal opinion (it is)- I'll add that I had a lot of tech issues as well- I fell through the map, the optimization is terrible, and the interactable notifications are absolutely awful.
