If I wasn’t already aware that Mind Diver was this studio’s first game, I wouldn’t have guessed it. It’s a confident and fully realized project that punches well above its weight. The story of Mind Diver revolves around a woman named Lena and her missing boyfriend Sebastian. The player is tasked with diving into Lena’s memories to help her find where Sebastian is. In the process, you’ll learn all about their relationship: the highs, the lows, their motivations, how they handle conflict, etc. It reminded me of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, albeit in reverse. Stellar voicework from the lead characters and good writing help make their relationship feel extremely believable and, in turn, makes the story pretty engrossing. The visual identity of this game is interesting. The graphics make heavy use of muddy textures and pseudo low polygon models that are sometimes incomplete. Apropos - it’s reminiscent of how it feels when you recall memories. I say that they’re pseudo low polygon models because it looks like the developers scanned real people and then turned down their details. It’s a very unique look. I like it. An interesting plot, enjoyable mechanics, well-written and convincing characters, and meaningful dialogue.

This is a fun static deduction game. It works best when you realize that some thing in the environment that previously seemed useless is what sets it apart. You can finish it in an afternoon or over a weekend. I mostly found it fairly easy going but I did have to look up the final puzzle, as I felt like the logic jump was a bit much for me. Still, I recommend it!

Really liked the story and the idea is interesting. The game overall felt short.

I thoroughly enjoyed the mind diving sections. The swimming sections always felt so natural.
