Scene Investigators

Good writing overall, but I found the solving process rather unrewarding. Way too much time is spent on figuring out basic information (like who's who in communication records) that would be trivial to obtain in real life by either interviewing people or looking up an ID database. Once you do figure out, the actual sequence of events is often simple to piece together.

i had an amazing time with this game, trying to actually figure out the scene from just pure deductions alone. played through with detective mode and was a blast. so imagine my surprise when i found out that this game was from the same developers of the painscreek killings, a game where there's rarely any deductive elements in it at all. i'd say this was a major (and good) leap from the formula of the painscreek killings, and would love it if there were more levels/games that are similar to this one by the devs in the near future. it was fun to pick up the small hints and clues scattered throughout the crime scene for me to make my own conclusions, and the way that they place the clues in a way that connects the dots together is really satisfying once the aha moment kicks in. although i did had to do some trial and error to figure out the correct answers for some of them, that still didn't take away my enjoyment of this game. overall, a major improvement from their previous works, and would like to see more levels if possible.

A genuinely good murder mystery game. I love that it's not just "who died" and you have to work to find out different bits of information about the timeline and whatnot. The Bloodbath case was definitely the hardest of the first three cases (and it's rightfully rated as such) as it took a lot of reasoning to figure out the timeline of what happened but it was eventually possible with what was given.

This game is right for you if you are interested in the clinical crime side of the genre. I'm more into the puzzle and story side of this genre so for me this wasn't a good fit, but it's not a bad game. I still recommend it, but *only* if you are that particular type of gamer. For the right person (which isn't me), this game is probably going to be a 7/10 maybe. There's room for improvement, but it's overall thought out and laid out well enough. I didn't encounter any bugs that I recall. The only objective issue I had with it is that certain things are a bit unnatural feeling so that's something the devs could probably improve on in the future, Like someone behaving in a way that really doesn't make any sense, which obviously does happen in real life, but in a game that heavily relies on you making assumptions about typical behavior, it doesn't quite fit. Also, on that point, the game does rely on you making assumptions about people's behavior. Expect a lot of logic to be comparing possible actions and deciding which is most likely, as opposed to hard evidence. Great game to take with patience and make your brain work, put your experience of binging the whole CSI TV Series saga to practice. But be patient, chill, and most importantly: TAKE NOTES, notes will save your life in this game. Make assumptions and go with your instincts. You have to create a bridge between what's in front of you and what the devs and designers wants you to see through their vision. Not easy, but yet again, such is the nature of this puzzle. Like in the Hannibal series. Great investigations game.

This game has potential, but unlike the developer's previous game, you get no story here with this and you kind of have to deduce your own story from the evidence given. Unfortunately, the game doesn't actually explain ANYTHING to you. You don't even get to know who the victim is (no details at all!). You'll get a chalk outline of a body (featureless, of course). You can find clues in a relatively small area and deduce that you think might have happened, but even if you're right, the game doesn't explain why you're right. For several of the missions, I found very confusing as it seemed to point in one direction, but I was completely wrong despite very close observation of the evidence and the game doesn't actually explain to you why you were wrong, what motives were (sometimes the clues seem to be deliberate red herrings). There's no witness statements, no one to talk to. You'll get a situation premise like "Neighbour called police" but you don't get to speak to the neighbour or read any kind of statement. It's vague. It wants you to figure out who the killer was, the victim, who was there, etc. But it doesn't want you to know why the killing occurred. It just wants…
