Metro Gravity

Going into this game I just saw it as a gravity rush platformer but then as I went along I found out the game bundles a lot into it, Puzzles okay makes sense Combat fair enough 3D metroidvania esque thats really cool Then I reached the first boss and I realized this game IS A RHYTHM GAME AND THAT IS SO COOOOOOLLLL The feeling of parrying the attacks on the beat of the music IS SO GOOOOOOD I NEED MORE GAMES LIKE THIS DIDNT REALIZE HOW MUCH I NEEDED THIS. My only gripe with the bosses is only 2 utilize the tools you get in interesting ways Outside of the boss fight I found maneuvering around the world REALLY fun especially after getting certain abilities and using them to maneuver around. If I had one complaint I wish the final battle was a little more climactic, more npcs had more to their dialogues, the story also was kinda confusing and didnt engage me too much but thats not too important. What matters is. HITTING THOSE PARRIES WITH THE BEAT IS SO GOOD!!!! "Men are simple creatures, They have lifelong friendships while not knowing anything about each other."

Big fan of the new genre of 3D metroidvanias with thick thighs Excellent: Traversal, bosses, characters and story Could be improved: Platforming, block-moving timing puzzles feeling clunky, non-boss enemy patterns not really matching with the music Might just be me: Lots of times I swore I was on the right rhythm and got hit anyway. I had to stop listening to the music and start just watching the attack indicator to parry successfully, which took away from the parrying a bit, which is a bummer because I love parry mechanics. I had no idea the game was a 'rhythm' game until an npc mentioned it hours in. Anyway, 3D metroidvania with insanely clever traversal and rhythm-based parrying. Might as well have been made specifically for me. With some light polish it'd be an all-timer.

Though not executed perfectly, the novel mechanics and ideas present in Metro Gravity are more than sufficient to hold your interest throughout 8-12 hours of gameplay (depending on engagement with collectibles). There is a decent level of jank that can cause frustration during some puzzles or while traversing specific parts of the map. That being said, when the movement systems do shine, they feel fantastic. I think that with more experience, the dev could have fully realized their vision and produced something truly incredible, but they've still done a great job. I had a very memorable and fun experience in spite of the rough edges, and am looking forward to their next project.

A very nice metroidvania that i’m honestly surprised i hadn’t heard of until very recently. I don’t think there was a moment while playing that i felt bored, and after the first hour or so i never felt particularly overwhelmed, which is extremely impressive. Also, the writing is pretty damn good, and the visual style is wonderful. I would absolutely recommend giving Metro Gravity a try.

Frankly, phenomenal game. Puzzles are creative (though some are maybe a _little_ too dependent on timing), the world and aesthetics are fantastic, and the combat, while I think a bit weaker for some of the normal enemies, is fun and solid for the bosses, and I like the simultaneous incentives and non-necessity of actually hitting them. Usually rhythmic combat games are a matter of finding openings while trying to be aware of and avoid hits. This focuses much more on the latter, while leaving the former up to people who want points for those tasty, tasty achievements. I do also kind of wish the outfits looked better on the model, but I think with the aesthetic they're going for it's hard for it to look "good" (maybe particularly because some of them are a bit too much detail squished into the low resolution poly format) plus the default outfit is honestly so solid it's hard to have something that feels better than it. Overall though, very much enjoyed it.
