About Song's Fantasy

This is a city management + territory expansion (resist the Jin Dynasty) + romance pursuit (7 romanceable characters) + high randomness (numerous random events, random equipment) game set in an alternate Southern Song Dynasty. Created by a solo developer with hand-drawn art style, it features extremely rich content (100,000+ words of storyline). Hope you like it!
If you are a fan of games like Against the Storm and Frostpunk, how would you fare when transported into an alternate Southern Song world? — You'll need to dynamically adjust general assignments and worker allocations based on the real-time situation, steadily developing your stronghold amidst resource scarcity and environmental challenges.
Manage your main city well, with the goal of repelling foreign enemies and commanding the battlefield! Featuring classic "map painting" grand strategy and card-based combat, lead the Great Song to restore its glory!
Story-focused players can unlock rich narrative threads, following the plot to explore the grudges and entanglements between factions. Moreover, multiple female characters are available for deep interaction and romance pursuit, unlocking exclusive storylines and a childbirth system, adding a touch of nurturing warmth.

Being a city lord requires managing both internal and external affairs—it's tiring work, so how could you lack romantic companions? 7 romanceable characters await your exploration.
Built-in random equipment system: each drop hides surprises, aiding your combat breakthrough. An intuitive "color-the-blocks" style campaign map, paired with a comprehensive transport system and outpost management mechanics, lets you experience the thrill of expanding your territory from scratch amidst the contention of the four major factions: Jin, Song, Western Xia, and Dali.

More content is worth anticipating.
In the future, we will deeply refine the faction system and inter-faction diplomacy mechanics, and add a strategy system based on general characteristics, further enriching the strategic depth for a more complete conquest experience.

✦ AI summary

Players consistently report that despite English being listed as a supported language on the Steam store page, the game either doesn't run at all when set to English or forces players to use only Chinese Mandarin. The main complaint is that this appears to be misleading advertising, as the game is non-functional in English and should have the language removed from its supported list until a working version is available. While players understand the developer is solo and working with time constraints, they feel the false language listing is deceptive and frustrating for purchasers.

Okay, well, where to start? Firstly, this game looks awesome and I was excited to play it. However, despite English being listed as a language in interface, as well as being listed in game properties, it simply doesn't exist. The only option available to play this game is in Chinese Mandarin. The developer has falsely incorrectly listed the game as being available in English. Having read the developer's reply to another review, they are a solo developer and didn't have enough time to make a smooth English version. I do understand that, however, until such a version is available to play, they should not have listed it as being English language compatible. This is, at best case, misleading the purchaser/gamer in order to get more people to buy the product. However, until an English version is released (the developer said they are prioritising stability which means an English version won't be released for an indefinite period), anybody who buys this game expecting to play in English (don't do it, there is NO workaround), is getting a broken game. I cannot in any way recommend this game until the game is as stated and described (or until the English language compatibility listing is …

Although the Steam Store page says that it is available in English, it is not. I hope that dev will be available soon.

There is no feasibility to run English version. It doesn't mean the game is not translated properly, it means literally you cannot run this game when English is set as game languade. All you can see it the Dev logo brightening up and then... nothing, just black screen with green square left behind. Had to run the game 10 times to comment here. :D I would suggest to remove English as supported language as it frustrates and misleads buyers.
