Village Tale

8.5/10: This is one of those idle games that actually kept me hooked. It leans into a light city management vibe, You build whatever your little village needs, whether that’s a blacksmith, a mall, or some other specific building they can’t live without. A lot of actions happen automatically, and I get why some players might raise an eyebrow at that. But it feels intentional imo. The developer clearly leaned into the “idle” part of the genre. Instead of micromanaging every tiny detail, you’re more like a relaxed overseer watching your village grow itself while you play along. It’s simple, cozy, and satisfying if you enjoy watching systems unfold without having to babysit every mechanic. Not the deepest city builder out there, but definitely one of the more enjoyable idle hybrids I’ve played. =)

This is one hell of a slow idle game. This is the kind of idle game where you open it in the morning, close it at night and pay no attention between those times. Kinda makes you wonder why you bothered paying money for it to be honest. I know it's cheap... but there are games cheaper than this that are far more worth your time. Let's start with my biggest issue. A lot of these games let you go full screen, even though it's one of those dinky little bottom of the desktop games. This one does not. As a result, the font in the game is TINY. I cannot read it without moving my seat closer to the screen. Which means I can't recline.... Just imagine if my eyesight was bad. So basically to play this game, you need good eyesight. (Edit to add, you can change the font to a less pixely one, making it bolder and easier to read. Definitely helps. But I'd still rather make the game easier to see.) Secondly, it's boring. Right out the gate, very start of the game, for hours you will have nothing to do. From the start to the end of an entire episode of Stargate, I got one building built (Not a ring that sends me to other planets, disappointingly.) and one bit of land extended. Was it worth it? W…

I like idle games as a tool to take breaks while working, this does not feel like an idle game. It is too fast, too small and can easily turn into micromanaging. I feel like I have completed the game in 2-3 days and have way too much money. All the things that I personally enjoy about idle games is lacking here and it feels like an early access game that still needs to be finished. Very disappointed and wish I could return it. For me, wanting a true idler, this game feels overpriced and unfished. If you just want to see little people wander around and work and get a sense of completion very quickly then this might be for you.

It's a cute game. The progression is pretty smooth. You can easily finish the game (i.e., build all structures and unlock all goods) in 10 hours or so, if you play actively. But it's pretty fun. If you play idle more, it takes longer. But this is the kind of game where you have to let go of optimization and just let it flow. Place your buildings and decorate around them. Once your village is making steady money, you can do whatever you want and build something new whenever it unlocks.

Definitely one of the weaker desktop idle games. City planning is too cumbersome and customisation options are limited. Sure, there are like 50 bushes with different coloured flowers, but there really isn't much else you can decorate with.
