About Meme Dragons

In the year 4020 humanity discovered sleeping dragons on Mars. Being the great patrons we are, we hooked them up with some gene therapy and now they’re sentient! Let’s teach them internet humor! Huh, they seem to really like the the early 2000s.

Fire. Everything’s on fire. Oh and now they’ve invented teleportation. That’s fine. Everything’s fine. But if you could get over here and stop them from reaching earth, that'd be great.

Meme Dragons is a silly, sci-fi VR arcade game for all demographics. For VR newbies, it's a chance to see why the physical immersion of VR is so great, without having to worry about complex controls. For gaming vets, its a carefully designed challenge meant to keep you playing for hours chasing that next high score.

Also, if you're looking for an exercise game, the addition of throwing weapons by end of 2017 will likely make this the most efficient VR workout on the market, since dodging is your primary survival mechanic and the throwing weapons force constant arm motion.

The initial early-access version of the game has:
- 10 meme-filled story levels
- 6 unique enemy types
- 3 difficulty settings
- 1 super satisfying laser (plasma) gun
- 1 sweet spaceship environment

The final version of the game will have:
- 2 to 3 more weapons, each with its own scoreboard
- 1 more game mode
- possibly other features such as pay-to-win micro-transactions LOL JK

For only the cost of a meal, go to space, kick pink dragon butt, ROFL at an insane developer's meme humor, and sweat your way to personal achievement dopamine release!

+Entertaining enough -Expensive -Abandoned? -no updates for almost a year -Expensive for yet another wave shooter 0/5 Pretty sure this is abandoned, even if it wasn't it's quite annoying, and badly made. I wouldn't get this. (I can't recommend a game that'll never be finished)

space pirate trainer but you shoot memes instead of drones cool idea, but VERY unrefined... only 2 types of weapons no sound or tactile feedback when shooting slow rate of fire very repetitive gets boring quick

Meme Dragons is a deliberately absurd, arcade-style virtual reality action game that leans fully into chaos, physicality, and internet-flavored humor rather than narrative coherence or mechanical complexity. Developed and published by Sky Nite, the game embraces a tongue-in-cheek science-fiction premise that exists mostly as an excuse to throw players into frenetic VR combat against teleporting, meme-infused dragons. From the very beginning, it makes clear that logic and realism are secondary to spectacle, motion, and moment-to-moment fun. The setting is set far in the future, where humanity’s encounter with dragons on Mars spirals into ridiculous consequences involving gene therapy, memes, and planetary destruction. This backstory is intentionally nonsensical, serving more as comedic framing than a story to be followed closely. Rather than unfolding through cutscenes or dialogue-heavy exposition, the game communicates its tone through visual gags, enemy designs, and exaggerated presentation. The result is a world that feels more like a VR playground than a structured sci-fi universe, and that sense of irreverence defines the entire experience. Gameplay centers on wave-based comb…

I just spent more time trying to figure out how this got in my library, versus actually playing the game. It's a VR wave shooter, runs smooth, graphics and audio are OK. The combat isn't great... mostly an effort of trying to time the lead on your slow-moving shots to hit the intended slow-moving target. Not exactly easy, especially when the number of enemies starts increasing. Each wave in 'Story' mode has its own little joke, almost as if the game itself is trolling the player. I would feel robbed had I paid the full $7 for this ... but I got it as part of a bundle, for (effectively) pennies and therefore it just barely gives enough enjoyment for me to give it a thumb: up!

You can watch my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/9hJRcp2kQWU
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
This is a bad game. Some reviewers here have compared this game to Space Pirate Trainer. That has to be a joke. It's such a bad joke that it may become a meme in the not too distant future. It's a stand still wave shooter with 2 weapons. A pair of handguns that feels like a water gun with bullets slowly getting from point A to point B that even a nerf gun feels more powerful. You could also choose to throw these Qi balls at the enemies with physics that'll make you question your sanity for choosing this option. There's only a few enemies. I finished the game on easy (after the boss there's infnite levels though) in about 12 minutes. I haven't beaten the game on medium difficulty, that's only because the game throws many enemies at you at level 8, thereby making the game difficult to beat (to hide how short it actually is). Maybe you'll find the memes funnier than I did. But the gameplay is awful and there's no hiding that. Look past the jokes, look past the music & sounds. The gameplay is just terrible. The shooting mechanic is bad. The graphics …
