Fear the Timeloop was a lot of fun! It reminded me a lot of Resident Evil 2 with its atmosphere, exploration, and overall feel, but it adds its own twist with the time loop mechanic. Unexpectedly good, the horror atmosphere and the progression system are well crafted In summery: + Horror atmosphere + Amazing time and health mechanic + Progression and puzzles - Clumsy combat - Bad voice acting Given that it was developed by indie developer with low budget -as I assume-, it worth trying and I am pretty sure horror fans will appreciate the experience.

Silent hill 2 and RE2 perfectly mashed together to make Fear the Timeloop. It’s not perfect, the jank is there, but overall I loved it. The setting, UI, game / audio design, labeled map, and inventory management is a copy of RE2 remake. The story is straight Silent hill 2. A man stuck in a timeloop of his own personal hell facing his own demons. Also similar to silent hill, the melee is OP. I played on “No loop” Normal mode and it felt well balanced. For a small team I was impressed by the polish. My only critique is the whole game is too dark, there should be a few well lit areas to balance the tension. Highly recommend

There was a time when survival horror games were considered a rather niche genre. The franchises that helped birth it, notably Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Alone in the Dark, had long since abandoned the traditional format – either going into other genres, dropping the whole franchise, or turning it a damn Pachinko machine instead. And then, somehow, survival horror returned. We had some notable indie releases make huge waves, big franchises coming back with their modernised over-the-shoulder perspective, and subsequently lots of imitators. It’s a great time for fans of the genre, although it can’t be denied that a lot of them start to blend together after a while. Which is why Fear the Timeloop caught my eye. There have been plenty of time-loop games for sure, but in a survival horror? I was intrigued, even if a little bit sceptical as to how it would actually pan out. 9/10 for what it is. 6/10 without considering the size of their team and budget. The game was really enjoyable. It follows the blueprints laid by Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and is a strong salute to the archtype. The voice acting was mediocre, and may help make the game feel more polished if the English version of the game used native English speakers for the voice acting. There are some bugs/glitches in the game, and while annoying when encountered, they weren't unforgivable. I ran into three different bugs while playing (or at least I assume the one is a bug though I could be misunderstanding the saving process). The first bug I encountered, happened multiple times, wherein if I saved the game with a reel, it didn't actually save the game. Meaning the next time I would play, the progress I made would be reset back to a save from a VCR tape. My understanding is that the reels were supposed to save your progress within a chapter, they just don't restore your health like the VCR tape does. The 2nd bug I encountered is that when changing graphic settings at one point, the game encountered a fatal error and crashed. This only occurred once, though I did not attemp…
