In the midst of the snowfields of Greenland lies Alpha Polaris, an American oil research station. High above, the ion storm of the century is gathering, bringing about a strange intermixing of reality and night terrors...

Alpha Polaris is an old-school adventure game focusing on character-driven horror and environmental themes. Previously released worldwide in retail, the game features professional voice-acted dialogues, hand-drawn dialogue portraits and an original soundtrack.

Alpha Polaris was developed by Turmoil Games, an indie game studio situated in Finnish Lapland, making the game an authentic Arctic production. Developed during two long and dark Finnish winters, inspiration for the game was drawn from such sources as inuit legends, Cthulhu mythos and the very real blight polar bears face today.

The Steam edition includes:
* Expanded resolution support (MINIMUM RESOLUTION 1280x768)
* Steam achievements & trading cards
* Minor tweaks & bug fixes, tweaked dialogues
* English voice acting, ingame texts available in English, Russian, German and Polish

Game made years ago at the most pathetic heights of the climate lunatic fever religion. "Twilight of the polar bears" :D "reclining ice cap".. After 15 years since this game was put out, polar bear population is thriving, ice caps come and go. There is no "normal" temperature or ice levels on earth, earth and climate has been changing 4,5 billion years, and you paying more taxes to corrupt politicians or stop eating meat doesn't change weather or make it suddenly static. This game was made by some university students, and see how they were being brainwashed to think climate nonsense was real science? Otherwise, game is pretty good, spend few hours with it.

The best gooner game on Steam! The environmental puzzles mostly don't make any sense and there's barely any story, but it's competently put together and quite enjoyable.

A short game but very intriguing.

Overlooked atmospheric horror adventure set in the arctic Anyone who is a Thing fan or similar horror adventure games like Scratches or the original Black Mirror/Death's Messenger would probably enjoy this though temper your expectations, the arctic makes for a good setting with its natural sense of isolation and ethereal atmosphere. The game itself isn't that long or challenging but it does set up a decent mystery with some decently written and acted characters, nice atmospheric music, and simple but logical puzzles. While the end is somewhat underwelming the journey was enjoyable enough to make up for it. Its too bad the dev went under, this was a good first outing. A sequel or spiritual successor could have been cool to play.
