I should have been more suspicious when early achievements were rare, despite the positive review ratio it seems like most people barely bothered to get far in the game, and it's not that difficult to see why. First of all the story is very bland, the characters are pretty one-dimensional and they all have relatively boring dialogue. NPCs rarely have much interesting or helpful to say. We don't get enough conflict or backstory about the protagonists to flesh them out or make them interesting and emotionally interested in their motivations. There's also a duo of annoying side characters that are almost unbearable to listen to and read the dialogue of, and they'll keep coming back with no way to speed or skip past. The world-building has interesting bits here and there but the environments are generic and cookie cutter and poorly done. It does 0 in properly immersing you into this world. Pretty much all the towns seem eerily the same, and the overworld is so basic and devoid of personality it almost feels like it's unfinished. In a game that was apparently built in its own engine I'm pretty surprised by the lack of detail or thought that was put into a lot of design choices. Navi…

Arelite Core, developed by Dragon Slumber and published by My Way Games, is a retro-inspired role-playing game that clearly draws from the traditions of classic 16-bit JRPGs while attempting to carve out its own identity through subtle mechanical twists and a slightly different narrative framing. Instead of casting the player as an immediately heroic figure, the story begins with Karden, a blacksmith whose ambitions are initially grounded in mastering his craft rather than saving the world. This setup gives the early hours a more personal and grounded tone, though as the narrative unfolds, it gradually transitions into a more familiar high-stakes adventure involving ancient forces and a growing threat that must be confronted. The story follows a traditional structure, introducing a party of companions who join Karden on his journey, each bringing their own personalities and motivations into the mix. While the overarching plot leans heavily on established genre conventions, the character interactions provide moments of charm that help maintain engagement. Dialogue can occasionally feel uneven, and pacing issues sometimes disrupt the flow of the narrative, but there is a genuine sen…

A pixel game mixed with vector graphics. It's kind of unusual, but fun / pumping the story as a whole is an interesting game, but after a while I got tired of it, but for the first time I advise you

Arelite Core is a fantastic RPG with a captivating story, engaging turn-based combat, and beautiful pixel art. The characters are well-developed, and the gameplay offers great depth and challenge. It's a must-play for fans of classic JRPGs. Highly enjoyable and highly recommended!
