Ascend From Nine Mountains

Is a good game in general, but it has some issues so far, that i really hope they got fixed at some point. 1.- The difficulty is all over the place, they try to balance for the hardcore and min-max players so they kinda screw the rest of the game, since they go with the illusion of every player know all the mechanics to win any encounter. 2.- Game progression, while the first and last stages have a normal progression, the core compression stage is a drag to complete, is not even a hard or difficult completion, is more of a chore and tedious overall, on your first run is not that bad but after that you notice how much of a pain it is. 3.- They have no consistency of where the facility icons are located in the regions, so every time you enter a new city or town you have to look your screen for some seconds to just find what are you are looking for. 4.- The illusion of builds, while there is multiple techniques and what not, since to complete some parts of the games you need a optimal build, all the combat got reduced to, apply weakness, vulnerability or you are gonna die, and boost power, anything else has no use so far. 5.- Performance, every update the game run worse and wor…

Credits to the dev, who have somehow managed to stuff the entire absurdity of the average cultivation genre into a game (despite the use of ai art). This has been the first cultivation game I've seen with actual formation puzzle systems that will decimate the average person's skull. Unfortunately, said formation system isn't really opt out at the pillar creation stage (unless you copy someone's homework from the discord). Rather than the average xanxia numbers go up, the game is played closer to a puzzle game. From your combat skill sequence to your cauldron refining sequence, formations, and the worst one of all, core condensation. Essentially kill core, get buff, but the next enemy core will be stronger. Mess up the sequence and oops, guess you are gonna ascend like a bum. It's pretty good, do give it a shot, its quite autistic, and is a roughly 50:50 split (in time spent) between mindless grinding and call me Formation Master Zhuge Liang because I have wasted 1hour on this puzzle with mediocre rewards. ------- It does feel really rough, especially at the core, and pillar stage, and hopefully when it leaves early access, the devs would've gotten to it.

A wonderful and well written introduction into the fascinating world of cultivation. It is a highly complex game that eases you gently into its great complexity and customizability.

Might be the best cultivation game I've played. Devs keep coming with amazing updates also. Can't wait what this will look like during full release.

10/10, would grind my rival into dust again. The cultivation system is satisfying, progression makes you a force to be reckoned with. Enough new elements are added each realm for development to feel meaningful. And of course, finally a game where you can beat the tar out of the cocky young master harassing you INSTEAD of scripted defeats all the time.

This game is complex and actually relatively forgiving. You can fail some things but never to the absolute detriment of the progression itself. If you lose a combat - mostly you just lose time running back to a healer and getting fit to try again. The combat is deep but relatively fast- you manage an autobattler essentially where you take turns using techniques in sequences you arrange yourself (conditional what/if cycles and everything included!). The schools are fun- Blossom for example sees you as a gardener surrounded by drifting blossoms while underneath the beauty, rot and fungi spawn to poison and kill your enemies while you sow seeds and care for the plants ;) Everything is about numbers and the perfectionist in me had me reroll three chars already because the first ones weren't good enough. Nevertheless I found the whole of it relatively relaxing if a bit obtuse at first. Sincerely recommended for people not averse to reading, liking numbers (and them going up!) and min-maxing. The eastern cultivation aspect is well done as well and the characters likeable. There is even a young master running around bothering you and it is sooo satisfying to get back at him.
