I liked the driving, but I did drive off the map and into the endless void.3 found this helpful
No camera controls. Levels only ask you move from point A to point B without making too much noise. Super low risk environment. Good concept wasted on horrible execution.3 found this helpful

Before They Wake is a psychological horror adventure that prioritizes atmosphere, emotional storytelling, and mystery over traditional action-oriented scares. Developed and published by Studio WhatHunts, the game places players in the role of Alfred Baptiste, a man suffering from a devastating illness while searching for answers in a world filled with supernatural uncertainty. Set against a backdrop of eerie landscapes and unsettling discoveries, the experience attempts to blend personal tragedy with horror, creating a narrative-driven journey that focuses as much on its protagonist's internal struggles as it does on external threats. The game's story begins with an intriguing premise. Alfred is infected by a mysterious mutating virus that has left him partially paralyzed and steadily weakened his body. Refusing to accept his fate, he embarks on a desperate search for a cure, documenting his experiences through recorded tapes. These recordings become a central storytelling device, allowing players to gradually uncover details about his condition, motivations, and the strange events unfolding around him. The narrative unfolds at a deliberate pace, encouraging exploration and curios…
I played through the entire campaign as well as the additional tapes included to give you an origin story for Alfred so you don't have to so spoilers are included. The mechanics are an interesting concept BUT...... For the beginning in the wheelchair all you do is press "W" to move forward. When the meter gets too high then wait a few secs for the meter to come down. Press "W" to move forward again. Rinse and repeat. There's really very little gameplay to be had at all. You will go around a corner or two but that's all folks! The final part of the main campaign is driving in a car. Same idea is to not drive too fast as the meter will raise up. Just wait for it to come down and then drive some more till you reach the end. Mission accomplished! A little text is provided before/after each level with not really much to say at all. Origin story campaign "Hallowed Tapes"? The first two levels are driving the car again with the same mechanics to just drive to the end of the map. A little text is provided before/after each level with not really much to say at all. The "Wuthering Plains" is the third map. This is where it gets weird. You are in first person mode because y…
