About Big Dipper
A miracle beyond the polar circle. They say it's hard to find a place to call your own, but what if such a place was not uniquely yours? What if both of you were not willing to give it up? Big Dipper is a kinetic visual novel, available in English, Simplified Chinese, and Russian, which tells a romantic story of the unusual circumstances that brought two lovers together one fateful New Year's Eve.
Cast
Andrew
Family troubles forced Andrew to leave his childhood home and step into an an early adulthood. Cast out on his own by a cruel twist of fate, he was led far north, where he was saved from the cold by an elderly furniture maker. Andrew studied the old man’s craft, and worked hard independently for years to come. Soon enough, he was finally able to afford his own house. If there was one lesson he had learned throughout his life, it was that living without a home was not truly living at all.
Julia
Julia’s childhood was mostly spent at her grandfather's home. Her parents would go on year long business trips, during which she grew up falling asleep near the fireplace, lulled to sleep by the roaring winds and the sounds of grandpa's instruments. When she turned twelve, her family moved to a place thousands of miles away, but she always knew when the time came again, she would one day come back to her old home.

Art and music is nice, although the music doesn't transition smoothly. The story concept is fairly contrived, and as such the writing really needs to do some heavy lifting to make this semi-ridiculous story have any footing. Which it doesn't. Not sure if this is a translation issue, or if it is originally in English and just subpar writing overall. You will find a few too many grammatical errors scattered throughout. Not the worst amount, but it looks like it wasn't proofread by a person. The text is hard to read on top of this because the white font with somewhat of a border doesn't contrast enough against the mostly transparent background that often is over white or bright imagery. Not sure why you can't alter the transparency in settings, it is really simple to set up in Unity. Would improve the experience being able to read the text. I honestly couldn't get that far before writing bored me into quitting. Regret trusting the positive recommendations. If you like amateur writing and supporting their growth, you do you.1 found this helpful
A very beautiful New Year's fairy tale, two hours of pure pleasure. I strongly recommend reading it.1 found this helpful
Big Dipper is a quiet, intimate visual novel that places atmosphere and emotional tone above interactivity, offering a short but carefully textured story about connection, displacement, and the search for warmth in the coldest of places. Developed by Team Zimno and published by Top Hat Studios Inc., the game feels deliberately modest in scope, presenting itself not as a branching romance or choice-heavy narrative, but as a focused, linear tale meant to be read like a winter short story. From the first moments, it establishes a sense of stillness and reflection, inviting players to slow down and sink into its world rather than rush toward outcomes. The narrative centers on two characters whose lives have been shaped by loss, movement, and quiet resilience. Andrew has traveled north and settled into isolation, carving out a fragile sense of stability through craftsmanship and solitude after family upheaval. Julia, meanwhile, arrives carrying her own history of displacement, memory, and longing for something that feels like home. Their meeting is understated and slightly awkward, unfolding during a snowbound New Year’s Eve that feels suspended in time. Rather than relying on dramatic…
The artwork and music was pretty. The story itself was cute. The English translation is where it needs some work. It had numerous typos and sometimes the sentences didn't make sense. I wouldn't recommend it if you're playing the English version of this VN.
A short, kinetic (no branching dialogue) visual novel taking place in Russia at Christmastime. The story centers on Andrew and Julia, two people who have heard of each other through their own relations but have never met until now. This story touches on Russian folklore as well as some sad family history readers may have had, but overall a rather lighthearted narrative. At the time of quickly typing this up I finally finished it just under two hours, but you may well get through it even faster. Only things I could say are a negative --and this is stretching it-- is that there are a few minor spelling errors in the English translation and the store page has not been updated for the VN's current UI which while nicer than the original has the text out of alignment with the center of the screen/window.
I loved the story so wholesome and sweet. Loved the ending and played with my heart i totally recommend it to an Visual novel reader or Kinetic visual novel readers short and cute the hole 2-4 hours worth it
