About Bionite: Origins
Bionite: Origins is a tactical shooter game based on vehicles. The game uses a combination of aircraft and tank physics to produce a unique gaming experience based on hover propulsion. This game is all about tactics. Gamers that want to be challenged on their ability to coordinate AND participate in combat need to check this game out. Bionite: Origins simulates a real time battlefield using a multitude of vehicles and characters. Players can participate as Commanders or Pilots. Commanders can: build bases, manage resources, command troops, coordinate and issue orders, assign assets to other players, and participate in battle in first person. Commanders can also use a "command view' that is an articulating satellite view for quick and efficient base building and executing battlefield tactics. Pilots can drive various vehicles or play as a character, with a seamless transition into or out of the tank cockpits. Pilots do not have any commanding abilities however wingmen can be assigned to their squad by the Commander. Once a wingman has been assigned to a Pilot, that player can issue orders and command only the wingmen in their squad.
The game is designed for online head to head games of 1 vs 1, however games can consist of up to 8 player on each team. Also included are a set of singleplayer missions that introduce new players to the command system. During the missions players can learn more about what Bionite and Spectralite are and how to use them during a multiplayer match. The missions also teach players how to issue commands to the various vehicles to set up bases, defend assets, and attack enemies. This game is not for people with short attention spans!!

At its current state I can't recommend. I've re-downloaded when new updates were made, but sadly the game does not feel like BZ. The controls are too sophisticated (couldn't implement the original's?), unit AI needs a huge improvement, and many bugs just build on top of it all. Seriously though, commanding your constructor to build a guntower shouldn't take more than 5 minutes. Bad pathfinding and controls plague a game where basic game mechanics should be a priority. Besides, 6+ years and it's still in early access? Sorry, but donating to them was a mistake.20 found this helpful
As others have said, this game unfortunately seems to have grinded to a halt since 2018? Developers obviously lost interest. It's a buggy mess that is COMPLETELY unplayable at this stage; controls are wacky and nothing seems to work correctly. Don't buy it. I think everyone was hoping something great would come of this spiritual successor... it's a shame. Oh well, Battlezone 98 Redux and Battlezone: Combat Commander are on Steam now at least. *EDIT* in response to developer: I fully understand that game development is very difficult, especially when starting out or with only a small team, and as such, many projects take years to develop. HOWEVER, "Having patience" and "Nothing worth having is easy to get" are not excuses for the fact that the game has been in development for 6 years, and in that time, actively sold on steam under the "Early Access" banner in an almost unplayable state, with basically 0 community engagement for the better part of 3 years. I wanted this project to succeed, don't get me wrong, it just clearly hasn't been handled well enough, though I am curious to see where the game is at now that it's "fully released". *EDIT* 2 after attempting to play the game as…14 found this helpful

So, I bought into this on indiedb in 2014. At the beginning, there was a lot of progress made, but mostly tech videos which are easy to make look better than the actual game. It is still so broken that you can't play it. I can't recommend buying it. The last update was January of this year. The game is still not even Alpha quality. It's basically an early dev build. Do NOT buy this. I love the series, but this game is not it.4 found this helpful
Officially the game left development long ago. But there are a lot Bugs present. Some menu can not be accessed (sound settings). Menus can only be closed with the back button and no other way to return to previous menu. In game in the excape menu most of the button don't do anything. Unable to scroll through missions. And there are many other bugs. The game deffinitely does not feel finished. Can only hope the development does still continue.3 found this helpful
