Blank (2019)

"Blank" a mediocre French language student project from Campus ADN in Montreal, Canada. It's lacking a few minimum expectations PC gamers expect, the polish isn't quite there. I found this narrative driven 3D platformer misses the mark slightly. There's no English translation for the game, but that's okay. The language of bad games is universal. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. Insultingly, the developer insists that you should play this with a console peasant children's toy gamepad instead of KB+M. You cannot play this without a console peasant children's toy. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're designing games for. It's the responsibility of the developer to ensure the game runs well on the platform they're selling it on, with the primary peripherals that PC gamers use. Not every "free" game really is. Игра "Blank" оказалась весьма неожиданной и увлекательной. Поначалу, минималистичный дизайн и полное отсутствие объяснений могут отпугнуть, но именно в этом и заключается ее прелесть. Необходимо самостоятельно разбираться в механике, экспериментировать и находить решения, что вызывает чувство искреннего удовлетворения после каждой решенной головоломки. Несмотря на кажущуюся простоту, "Blank" обладает глубокой и сложной системой взаимодействия элементов. Здесь нет места глупому тыканию в экран, требуется логическое мышление и внимание к деталям. Музыкальное сопровождение идеально дополняет атмосферу медитативной сосредоточенности, позволяя полностью погрузиться в процесс. Однако, стоит отметить, что отсутствие каких-либо подсказок может завести в тупик. Иногда, решение, очевидное впоследствии, остается незамеченным долгое время, вызывая некоторое раздражение. Тем не менее, это незначительный недостаток, который компенсируется общим положительным впечатлением от игры. "Blank" – это отличный выбор для тех, кто ищет нестандартные головоломки и готов к тому, чтобы бросить вызов своим интеллектуальным способностям.

In the year of our Lord 2024, sometime after the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth showcase on Feb. 6, many people reported seeing all their friends play Blank. While some wrote this off as a display bug on their friends list, I chose to dig deeper, and found this hidden gem. While I do not have a Xbox 360 controller to access the game proper, that title screen has absolutely changed my life. Never have I experienced such beauty in this world, and I never expect to come across something remotely as breathtaking. Move over Cloud, Blank Man is the new hotness!!
