Boat Racer is a very strange little game because despite the name, it is actually a collection of three completely different mini games. The main attraction is obviously the boat racing, but there is also a third person brawler called Knazi Knockout and a first person arena shooter called Nazis in the Mist. I went into this expecting a simple racing game and ended up getting something that feels more like a collection of odd arcade experiments. It is definitely not a polished racing game in the traditional sense, but I found the whole package pretty entertaining. The actual Boat Racer mode is the part I enjoyed first. I race around a course for three laps while trying to avoid or shoot various hazards with the cannons mounted on my boat. Shooting certain objects can help extend my turbo, while other obstacles simply need to be avoided before they cost me valuable time. The really nice part is that the hazards are randomly generated, so I cannot just memorize one perfect route and repeat it forever.
