About Boom Island

✦ AI summary

Boom Island is an arcade-style first-person shooter where you blast explosive bouncing beach balls on a mysterious 1900s island while surviving increasingly difficult waves. Choose between survival modes that test your endurance, an economy mode where you earn money for weapons and upgrades, or a protection mode where you man a mounted machine gun on your crashed plane.

Imagine being stranded on an island in the early 1900's, being a only survivor in a experimental plane crash. However, the island you crashed on is not a normal island, its Boom Island! Engage yourself in this arcade style first person shooter, where the main objective is to shoot highly explosive bouncing beach balls while staying alive. Immerse yourself with vintage effects and arcade style gameplay.

Gamemodes:

  • Survival:
A classic style of play where your objective is to survive an infinite amount of beach balls in various waves, as you survive the waves, your difficulty will gradually increase until you get blown up.
  • Economy
In economy mode, you will survive the balls while collecting money by killing them. You can use that money to buy various weapons, ammo, and health in the in-game shop.
  • Protection:
Similar aspect to survival, however your arsenal and mobility has greatly changed. Get strapped in to a giant mounted machine gun on your destroyed plane, as you flawlessly penetrate the explosive beach balls with ammunition, not being a problem.

    More features:

  • Partial Controller Support.
Boom island allows you to use a controller to play. However you need to navigate through the menus with a mouse, as well as manually configure the controller binding in the control settings.
  • Graphics Customization
You can adjust a ton of video settings such as v-sync, textures, Anti Aliasing and many more.

  • Custom Controls
Change keys and their mappings to your own liking in the settings.

What are you waiting for? Go head to the island and good luck.

Players report this is a barebones wave shooter with minimal content and repetitive gameplay across its three modes, where you shoot beach balls on a single island setting while dealing with technical issues like bugs, crashes, and ammo problems. The main appeal is for achievement hunters due to easy completion, but the shallow gameplay, looping music, and lack of variety make it tedious and uninspiring for most players, with widespread criticism that it feels like an incomplete cash grab padded with similar game modes.

A fairly lame/just give me money/endless wave shooter slapped together by Caden Goodwin using Unity. One completely uninspiring island area where you have to shoot giant beach balls that explode when they touch you. You do this while being tortured with a single cafe music track that loops, where you going full blown Robert De Niro postal is probably only micro seconds from happening. This game becomes a big yawn within 10 minutes max even though it is padded with 3 modes. 1) Survival - Running from crate to crate to try and last as long as possible. (Hint just stay around a health crate) 2) Economy - Exactly the same as survival the only difference is instead of crates you now get a shopping menu instead. Each beach ball you blow up will give you $100.00. When you save enough, just click on the corresponding button you need from the menu to buy ammo, health or guns. 3) Protection - Using a mounted machine gun, protect a stranded plane from beach balls coming in from all directions. In this mode the gun aim is more off than a 'Y2K bug will kill us all' proclamation. Major problems... *Half the gun sights don't work properly. *No variety. Other than more beach ball spawns nothi…

Boom Island takes the familiar wave-survival shooter formula and gives it an intentionally ridiculous identity. Instead of fighting soldiers, zombies, or alien creatures, players find themselves stranded after an experimental plane crash in the early 1900s and must defend themselves against bouncing beach balls capable of exploding on contact. Developed by Caden Goodwin and published by csgood, it is a compact indie first-person shooter that prioritizes arcade action and absurd humor over realism, elaborate storytelling, or complicated mechanics. The premise is established quickly and largely exists to justify the action. After surviving the crash, the player discovers that the island is populated by increasingly dangerous explosive balls. Their bouncing movement makes them less predictable than ordinary stationary targets, forcing players to pay attention to distance, positioning, and aim. There is an amusing contrast between the vintage setting and the completely nonsensical enemies, giving the game a personality that distinguishes it from more conventional wave shooters. It is not particularly deep, but its willingness to embrace such a strange concept is part of its charm. Su…

There are 3 types of game: 1. Survival some balls and that's it. 2. Shoot some balls and earn money to buy some weapons, ammo and health's. 3. Protect plane from balls. Honestly, nothing of these 3 modes not impress me, not a single minute. Not recommended.
