About Box Ninja

The ninja is trying to get to the door, but there are some annoying boxes in the way. Good thing this ninja has some crazy powerful legs! Those boxes need to be taught a lesson, so it is time to push, kick and break some boxes! (No actual boxes were harmed in the making of this game)

Includes:
- 30 levels
- 1 ninja
- 67 boxes
- 228 spikes
- 40 buttons
- 42 springs

This was the worst platformer I have played in my life. I installed this game because I thought the title was relatable (I am a "ninja" in the "box" (slang for vagina)). Sadly, this game had no "box" and only a small amount of "ninja". On top of this, none of the levels were at all fun, and the game was horribly balanced. I beat every level in only one attempt until the last three, which each took me at least 10 minutes, and hundreds of attempts. I would have taken even longer and more attempts but I downloaded an application which made it possible for me to slow down the game. Please NEVER play this game.

Fun little platformer. Reminds me of something you'd see out of a flash game. The kicking gimmick maybe could have been used a bit more but oh well. I think the only thing that brings it down is Level 28. The hit boxes on the spikes and ninja make it WAY TOO TIGHT for comfort. If it had been the last level it would have been fine, but it wasn't. The last level felt like a cakewalk compared to it.

"Box Ninja" is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. When a platformer is this low in quality I'm either going to say it's a joke game or just a tech demo from someone trying to see how Steam Direct works (and this happens a lot, people really do spend $100 to dump garbage onto Steam purely to see whether or not it works). But there's 30 levels of very bad platformer here, beneath mediocrity. That's a lot of work that went into something nobody wanted or asked for, but that's the wonder of Steam Direct, I guess. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. In order for a platformer to be even remotely successful, it needs to be incredibly exceptional compared to even modern games... it can be done, look at Hollow Knight for example... but th…
