Catie's days are carefree, spent leading a small forum in a quiet corner of the Web. But when a mysterious firewall begins consuming the northern wilderness, the Internet's leaders are called together to assess the threat. Soon, Catie will find herself plunged into the thick of a wild adventure, alongside a group of unlikely new allies. Together, they must reassemble the code of an ancient hacking tool, while being pursued by a mysterious new enemy, and the unrelenting shadows of the past...

RPG Maker strikes again! "BoxxyQuest: The Gathering Storm" is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. This RPG Maker asset flip is, well, pretty typical as once more we have an amateur developer simping hard (but actually got the target of his simping involved apparently) with a backdrop plot that largely seems to have been ripped off from popular anime like Log Horizon. The writing in this one is cringey to the point it's weaponized cringe. The gameplay is of course terrible, even the best developer in the world could only make garbage with RPG Maker because RPG Maker is garbage, and when you combine that with people who probably should not be in the business of developing games, things get real bad, and real cringe, real fast. Игра 'BoxxyQuest: The Gathering Storm' – это приятный сюрприз в мире инди-игр. Простая, но затягивающая механика "собери и улучши" в сочетании с пиксельной графикой создают уютную атмосферу ностальгии. Сюжет, хотя и не хватает глубины, выполняет свою функцию, мотивируя к исследованию мира и выполнению квестов. Боевая система проста для освоения, но предлагает достаточно возможностей для тактического подхода. Разнообразие врагов, хоть и не огромное, заставляет адаптироваться и экспериментировать с экипировкой. Из плюсов: приятная музыка, ненавязчивый юмор и ощущение постоянного прогресса. Из минусов: короткая кампания и некоторая однообразность геймплея после нескольких часов игры. В целом, 'BoxxyQuest: The Gathering Storm' – это хорошая игра для тех, кто ищет незамысловатое, но увлекательное приключение на пару вечеров. Рекомендую!
