About Boya Coya
Boya Coya is a two-player trick-taking card game inspired by the ancient card game Ganjifa, built for quick sessions and deep strategy. Master eight suits, declare Boya Coya (King–Queen–Jack of one suit) for bonus points, and outscore your opponent across three distinct ways to play.
Three Ways to Play
- Relaxed - Follow the lead suit when you can; no trump. Win a trick with a King to lock that suit and force everyone to follow. Clean, readable, great for learning.
- Strat - Trump rotates every five tricks. Pay 5 points to change trump. Arm Coya Challenge when leading a trick: guess right for +5, miss and lose 5 and the ability to challenge again. Turn timers keep the pace tight.
- Custom - Mix and match. Choose a base (Suit Lock, Trump, or neither), toggle Boya Coya and Coya Challenge, set deck size (full, half, quarter), turn timer (off, 5s, 10s, 20s), and more. Your rules, your game.
Single Player & Multiplayer
- Vs CPU - Jump into Relaxed, Strat, or Custom anytime. No waiting, no setup.
- Online - Host a game or use matchmaking to find an opponent. Ranked matches track wins, losses, and rank so you can see how you stack up.
The Basics
- Eight suits with a fixed hierarchy (Crown > Money > Banana > Skull > Diamond > Spade > Heart > Club). Higher suit wins when ranks tie.
- Boya Coya - Declare K+Q+J of the same suit for 7 points; your next play must be a court card from that suit.
- Bonus points - Streaks (3/4/5 tricks in a row), emptying your hand first, capturing a suit's full court or 7+ cards, most tricks in a suit, and more.
- Shared rules - Opening lead by higher face-up card; draw after each trick; trump (in Strat/Custom trump modes) beats non-trump and rotates or can be bought.
