About Cannibal Crossing
GAME FEATURES
- Play Alone – or With Up to 3 Friends in our co-op Horde Mode: Face the days alone or get by with a little help from your friends in a fast base-building co-op mode. Run slightly faster than them so they get eaten instead of you.
- Randomly Generated Open World: Earlsboro has a different layout every time you play, and you will have to adapt to find the supplies you need. Explore the town to find special encounters, unique buildings with their own specialized loot, and places to fortify for temporary safety.
- Rescue Other Survivors: Help out other survivors, who will then be available to follow you around, help you upgrade buildings, and become permanently unlocked as playable characters.
- Choose Your Character: There are 10 unique characters to play, with their own traits, special abilities, equipment, and playstyles. Each character has their own unique unlockable classes, for even more ways to play the game.
- Build Your Base: You can pick any spot in the world to try to carve out a little bit of safety with a fortified base. Place down turrets, walls, and other defenses. Then place down structures to help out your team, such as Ammo Presses, Quantum Mailboxes, Smelters, Luck Shrines, and more.
- Enemy Hordes: Nearly the entire town has turned into mutant cannibals with questionable manners, and worse things are coming. Fight or flee from your enemies, and get respite by hiding in buildings that you can barricade. Use firearms, explosive traps, melee weapons, fire, sniping, overly volatile parked cars, and other methods to face large groups.
- Invasion Events: With a short warning, massive groups of enemies can descend on you. Run like hell, bring out your big guns, or get assistance from your base defenses. Sometimes, with stealth and fast reflexes, you can turn the tables and take the fight to the enemy's base instead of yours.
- Big Bosses: Defeat special boss monsters to get closer to escaping the town. Watch out, as every boss kill makes future bosses stronger.

What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Cannibal Crossing is a cooperative survival experience that works best with friends and improves as you progress, with players appreciating the core gameplay loop and value at discount prices. However, many feel the game suffers from unfocused design, generic mechanics, and a sense of abandonment by developers, while the $20 asking price is considered steep for what's offered.
So having done a recent review of Death Road to Canada, a very fun niche title also by Rocketcat Games, I realized I had this one in my library a while back and gave it quite a few hours before dropping it. This isn't a title developed by them AFAIK, rather published, but as it's what I know from them, the comparisons are inevitable. Which is a shame, because my expectations are absolutely colored by that, and I didn't vibe with Cannibal Crossing, and this game isn't a spiritual sequel to DRtC but the comparisons kept coming up. Keep that in mind because my experience might be completely different from someone approaching this without having played DRtC beforehand. If I had to sum CC up in one word, it would be "unfocused." The runner-up word would be "generic." This is an open-world top-down pixel-art stealth-action zombie-shooter with survival, crafting, and base-building elements as well as football matches. That last part about football is a lie; I'm just checking to make sure your eyes didn't glaze over from the preceding description. It arrived years too late in a genre that's absolutely saturated with games like it. Unlike DRtC, which is about you traveling t…4 found this helpful
Cannibal Crossing is a top-down action survival experience that leans heavily into tension, improvisation, and cooperative chaos, blending familiar genre mechanics into a harsh and often unforgiving loop. Developed collaboratively by Everplay Interactive, Blow and Try Again, and Rocketcat Games, and published by Rocketcat Games, the title positions itself as a survival sandbox where preparation, awareness, and adaptability matter far more than raw reflexes. From the outset, it communicates that survival is temporary, safety is fragile, and every decision carries risk. The game is set in the cursed town of Earlsboro, a hostile environment overrun by cannibals, bandits, and monstrous creatures that grow more aggressive over time. Each playthrough takes place on a procedurally generated map, ensuring that no two runs unfold in exactly the same way. This design choice reinforces uncertainty, as familiar landmarks cannot be relied upon and essential resources may be scattered in unexpected locations. Exploration becomes a constant gamble: venturing out may yield vital supplies, but it also exposes players to ambushes and escalating danger. The lack of predictability is one of the game’…1 found this helpful
Good idea, very poorly executed and half done, it feels unfinished. Don't bother.
SUPREMELY rough around the edges in basically every way you can think of, and it doesn't seem like the developers have any intention to smooth the experience out any.
The devs have left this game to rot but I think the game is good for its price and the gameplay gets a lot more fun as you go on
This game is awesome, but $20 is too high, get it for $10 or less in my opinion.
