Cattle 101 - Sample Library

Cattle 101 - Sample Library is a free to play education demo program about cows. It does work on my Win 10 system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Play from the desktop using mouse and keyboard. Could be useful for Cattle farmers, 4H and future farming students. You can see Cattle Scoring, Cattle anatomy, size comparisons and info of various cattle breeds. It set off my SteamVR when running, stop the SteamVR, runs better without it. There is a quiz. There is a better program at the devs website? Try this, if you are a cattle farmer or interested in cows.

If you alt+tab out, or even open an overlay, you lose control of mouse movement. It also pegs your GPU at 100% the entire time with an uncapped framerate, even while using a G-sync monitor. There is no menu, so no options to change to correct this. It's also complete garbage and you'd be better off using Wikipedia...

"Cattle 101 - Sample Library" is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this software. Instead of being a game, "Cattle 101 - Sample Library" is a software application that vaguely and badly attempts to provide an educational toolset for identifying and grading cattle so they can be killed and eaten. There's no actual gameplay. It's also evidently not popular amongst people on Steam seeking to learn more about cattle, given this application only ever had two concurrent users, and that only happened once. Moo. For those unfamiliar with what actually makes something a game, a "game loop" describes the interaction and feedback a gamer has when playing a game. Tetris, for example, has a game loop where a random block appears, the gamer interacts with the block to position it, and then the game decides if that finishes a row or not, increases the players score if any rows were completed, then gives the gamer another block to position. Counter-Strike has a game loop where a player seeks another player, tests their skill against that player by shooting them or being shot, the computer rewards the player if they win, and th…

Alright, first things first, this not a finished game or even a complete demo, just a small sample of some game content. This means there are things that are missing, unfinished, or broken, of course. That said I believe this game will bring a lot to the table and I am excited for a full release. [b]CONS:[/b] - as others have mentioned if you tab out at any point it breaks the UI and you have to quit out of the game and restart (in my opinion a forgivable offense for an early sample like this) - There are some places where the text has not been properly formatted to fit within the designated text boxes and will trail off forever. - many unfinished elements (duh :p ) - no Highland cattle breed included yet (gimmie fluffy cows pls!!!) [b]PROS:[/b] - great visuals - nice background audio - smooth character motion and UI interactions - fantastic (future) source of knowledge and a learning tool for those wanting to know more about cattle keeping - cute cows!!! Overall this game has a lot of potential and I can't wait to see where the devs take it!
