About Chainsaw Warrior (Classic)

About Chainsaw Warrior

Chainsaw Warrior from Games Workshop is the classic nail-biting game for one strong-nerved player! It's the year 2032 and spatial warping has opened a hole into another dimension in the midst of the old municipal buildings at the heart of Manhattan. Bizarre and dangerous creatures are flooding into our dimension, intent on destruction. Behind their actions is a controlling intelligence known as 'Darkness', who intends to drag New York back into the warp – destroying it utterly!Air strikes, ground assaults and WMDs have all failed to stop the swarming forces from beyond. All that remains is a single hope: a shadowy ex-special forces soldier, enhanced for combat and known only as 'Chainsaw Warrior'. Equipped with all the latest high-tech armaments, he must battle his way through to the trans-dimensional ground-zero and defeat Darkness. Not only are there swarms of zombies, mutants, traps, Chaos Agents and other twisted denizens between him and Darkness, time is the enemy too! Only an hour remains to save New York before it is torn from our world forever.First published as a solo boardgame in 1987, it has been updated, translated and re-engineered for the digital generation. In Chainsaw Warrior it's just you against both the clock and a tide of evil! Can you prevail where all others have failed? You only have 60 minutes to save New York!

It was a really nice game, but, as other reviews mentioned, it does not work on modern systems (Win10/11). You will get a black screen before even seeing the menus, and that's it. I will update this review when the bug is fixed.

I'm surprised this has Mixed reviews, I think it's a great little game. Definitely for people who enjoy solo board-games but this is a bona-fide 80s Games Workshop game, made when the company was arguably at their creative peak, and this is a perfect example of the range that their team had at that time. Nice conversion too, well presented.

Stupidly hard and a pure RNG-fest, where the dice decides way more than you do. And still, a lot of fun if you know what you're getting yourself into. This used to be the perfect phone game, it would be great if it came back there as well.

A good and very fast paced game. Dice and cards adventure, simple rules to follow with a nice narrative. Currently it needs an patch to solve a tech issue that impacts some players but if it works for you or that's fixed for everyone then this is very much worth the money for a game you can play multiple times in a short ten or fifteen minute session.

*Chainsaw Warrior (Classic)*, developed and published by Auroch Digital, is a digital revival of a cult tabletop experience that wears its old-school design philosophy with absolute confidence. It doesn’t try to modernize itself into a streamlined or widely accessible format; instead, it preserves the essence of its source material almost intact, delivering a solitary, card-driven survival challenge that is as unpredictable as it is unforgiving. The game feels less like a traditional video game and more like sitting down with a deck of cards and dice, where every decision is shaped by chance as much as intention. The premise is straightforward but effective: you step into the role of a lone operative tasked with preventing a catastrophic threat from consuming New York, all while racing against an ever-ticking clock. Progress is dictated by drawing cards that represent locations, enemies, and hazards, with each turn advancing both your mission and the limited time you have to complete it. This constant pressure adds a layer of urgency that defines the experience, forcing players to balance caution with momentum. Move too slowly and you run out of time; take too many risks and you m…

Classic GW singleplayer card game. You select equipment at the beginning, and may be able to get more as the game goes on.You draw cards from a deck that represents the "Dungeon" you are delving into, so to speak, with traps, enemies and random events. Very fun, has that Roguelike feeling but also can be unforgiving and just ♥♥♥♥ you over if you got bad luck. WARNING TO ALL POTENTIAL BUYERS: It doesn't work on modern systems. You'll get a black screen after the first splash screen. Some people say they can get the game to run on Win10...but I never had that luck. And it doesn't work on Win11 at all. Until Auroch fix their ♥♥♥♥, don't buy. EDIT: As of the 5th of May, Devs from Auroch took a look at it apparantly. Reinstalled and ran the game and it actually works now! There's still some people in the Discussion section who say the game doesn't run for them, but also many confirming it works on their end. So I change my review score to a Recommend, but a cautious one. Game MAY not run but generally should now.
