The game begins abruptly, without any introduction or explanation of who you are or what is happening. You simply find yourself standing in a corridor lined with closed doors, holding a single card in your hand. The card bears the words “primordial will” across its surface. To your surprise, the card itself seems capable of speech, and it urges you to proceed through the only door that is open. Following its guidance, you begin to move forward, yet after several loops through what appears to be the same hallway, you eventually arrive at a table covered with multiple cards. This is where the game’s unique system reveals itself. At its core, it plays like an adventure game, though everything is expressed through cards. Item cards depict objects you discover, while action cards allow you to interact with them. For example, a “hand” card lets you use or manipulate an object, an “eye” card allows you to examine something closely, and a “think” card prompts either dialogue or deeper inspection. By dragging an action card onto an item card, you perform the corresponding action, gradually unlocking new possibilities. At times, different item cards can even be combined to create entire…9 found this helpful
Circular Fallacy, developed and published by Unstable Matter, is an inventive and cerebral indie title that merges card-based puzzle solving with psychological storytelling and surreal exploration. Released in August 2025, the game feels like a dream that constantly folds in on itself, asking players to question their perceptions while experimenting with unconventional mechanics. From the moment it begins, it establishes an atmosphere of mystery and detachment, immersing you in a world that exists somewhere between logic and emotion. It is not a traditional narrative experience but rather a metaphysical riddle that invites you to interpret its meaning as you navigate through looping sequences of thought and fragmented memory. The story opens in an undefined space where the player awakens with no clear sense of identity or purpose. The only clue to your existence is a vague mission: to recover the truth about who you are and what this world represents. The game’s world is structured around “cards,” which serve as physical manifestations of objects, thoughts, or memories. Every action, discovery, or interaction happens through these cards, creating a blend of tactile mechanics and a…5 found this helpful
Review pending until I finish it, but from what I've played, it seems like a worthwhile game. It has some issues, such as not all translations are in English, some are in Chinese, and the music doesn't change during the game (a little background music doesn't hurt), but it has an interesting system that keeps you engaged.1 found this helpful
