About Cosmonator
Cosmonator is an 'RPG-em-up': a hybrid of classic fast-paced top-down shmup action infused with deep character building elements.
Slowly build up your ship to suit your particular playing style: perhaps you prefer a passive build that focusses on high firepower, strong sideships, specially customised homing missiles and a drone that fires automatically at any moving enemies? Or a tank build with strong shields, armor, and defensive special abilities? Or a spellcaster with numerous devastating special attacks - and the ability to control time? Each weapon, upgrade, ability and spell in Cosmonator is separately customisable so you can build up exactly the character you want. Add to this a massive level content, including a legion of epic boss battles, and you're guaranteed to keep coming back for more - even after the first playthrough.
FEATURES:
30+ passive upgrades including various firepower and missile upgrades, sideship upgrades, drone upgrades, shield and armor upgrades, and a variety of special feats - allowing you to craft a customised build that suits your desired play style
40+ unique spells that can be upgraded to various strengths; some spells can be augmented to alter their effects in specific ways
40 hand-crafted levels that shape the core of the game
20 extra optional challenge levels
More than 15 epic boss battles
5 difficulty levels, from 'Rookie' to 'Impossible'
An endless roguelike gauntlet mode that continuously increases in difficulty and measures your ability against other players on the leaderboards
Controller support

Good: the RPG elements are well thought, and so the progression system. Graphics and animations are lovely. Not bad: the gameplay is generic but quite refined. Bad: visual glitches here and there. I had a few crashes. Given the large amount of commands, key remapping should be perfect but is very weak (to say the least) instead.2 found this helpful
Great game. If you played Raiden project back in the day then you'll like this. The progression is satisfying and difficulty well tuned. The music is class. Would recommend on controller if you have one. Overall a buy from me.
Seriously addictive! I normally find shmups too difficult but I really like the health system to allow multiple hits without dying. Tons of combinations of spells and upgrades to play with. Love the vibe and music, easy to get into that flow state and play for hours without realising. Definitely recommend it!
This game has one giant problem: As you level up you get less and less cash from doing missions. It's basically the developer being petty and going "If you need to grind to beat the difficult missions I'll punish you for it by wasting your time." There is simply no reason for this. The game doesn't stop you from running easy missions over and over to unlock all of the cash upgrades, it just has a mechanic built in that artificially makes it take forever, because it doesn't respect your time.
No mouse control is a bold strategy. I hope it pans out.
Good for fans of games like Overkill and Astro Warrior
