Dark Raid is a pretty mediocre game for a lot of reasons. It has a couple redeemable qualities: the voice acting was decent for an indie game, and it plays fairly well since it was made in Unreal Engine. That's about where the good ends, though. First off, it took me three times to launch it because it kept immediately crashing. The first mission is incredibly boring. The game doesn't explain or set the environment for why you're there and what you're doing. It has you wander around a corridor maze to find a part, then run back to the start, and then back again to where you found the part. This starts the story, which was pretty shallow but passable. It's basically Half Life - activate a machine and all hell breaks loose. You're a robot and don't get infected like the others due to being a solider. The enemies and combat were pretty subpar. I played for 45 minutes and only encountered two enemies: one dumb one that you kill in two shots and a bullet sponge one. The aiming isn't great and the ammo is pretty sparse for how much you need to kill all the robots. The worst part about this was probably the audio. The sound effects are horrible and unbalanced. The menu sounds and the j…

Dark Raid is honestly a pretty disappointing game in terms of production quality. For most of the experience, it feels rough and poorly made, and only towards the end of the story does it become somewhat nice to look at. The shooting mechanics are also a major issue. The aiming feels clunky and unreliable, which makes combat more frustrating than enjoyable. On top of that, enemies often feel like they have aimbot, hitting you with unrealistic precision and making encounters feel unfair rather than challenging. The storyline isn’t particularly strong either. It’s not the worst, and it can be acceptable at times, but it never really stands out or becomes truly engaging. The ending, unfortunately, is very underwhelming and leaves little to no impact. After finishing the game, it just feels like something is missing. 3/10
