DarkenDerek The last Fallen is such a ridiculous throwback that I actually had a lot of fun with it. I play as a completely unhinged character fighting aliens across cities, planets and space stations, and the game clearly wants me to remember the exaggerated shooters of the nineties. I liked the goofy tone because it never feels embarrassed about how over the top it is. The shooting is fast and straightforward. I move through levels, blast enemies and make use of different weapons while trying to survive the constant attacks. I enjoyed the aggressive pace because the game rarely gives me much time to relax. The enemies can come at me from different directions, and the combat works best when I keep moving rather than trying to sit in one safe location. The jetpack is one of my favorite features because it gives the levels a more vertical feel. I can explore areas from above and use the extra mobility to reach enemies or positions that would otherwise be difficult to access. I liked having that freedom because it makes the game feel less like a simple corridor shooter and more like a chaotic arcade adventure. There is also a decent amount of variety in the campaign. this game sucks no sense of directions of where to go

I sincerely do think the ideas and the concept are really quite fun. Obvious inspirations from Duke Nukem. I just felt the execution wasn't quite there. This game needs more time in the oven, otherwise it gets stale (at least after 7-8 levels for me). I think the humor and music is spot on though, and this is a great first attempt at a game. If the guns felt heavier and had more variety, and the enemy AI a little smarter and more interesting, I probably would have had more fun. I hope they get to make more games in the future and continue working, and maybe one day they can come back to Darken Derek and give him the spotlight again.
