Deja Vu portrays The Backrooms as a manifestation of mental illness. Join forces with a friend and endeavor to escape the confines of both your own mind and the mundane existence that led you here.
Meet AJ, an average guy stuck in the monotony of a corporate job. Suddenly, he receives devastating news—he's been diagnosed with a mental illness that, if left untreated, could lead to severe hallucinations. What AJ doesn't realize is that these hallucinations are about to become all too real, much sooner than expected.
Unbeknownst to AJ, the horrors he's about to face exist solely within his own mind, ensnaring him in a strangely familiar place called The Loop. AJ's mind perceives the place he's trapped in as akin to a computer glitch. Consequently, he must gather eight memory fragments to liberate himself from his own hallucinations—a journey he can embark on with someone else caught in the same predicament.
Deja Vu seamlessly blends singleplayer and multiplayer elements to offer a realistic and plausible approach of the backrooms concept. The singleplayer part features the way you reach "The Loop", while the multiplayer part allows up to four unfortunate souls to work together in order to escape.
Deja Vu features two kinds of levels:
AJ must evade a distinct entity in each level he faces. These entities roam the levels, relentlessly hunting him down; if caught, they will ruthlessly end his life. AJ, being no fighter, must rely solely on his legs to survive.
High quality graphics, immersive sound design, detailed animations, a first-person perspective from a fully rendered character, stamina system and a minimalist user interface collectively offer a lifelike portrayal of the horrors AJ is enduring.
The game includes a variety of items that could assist AJ in his escape, all of which can be stored in an inventory system. Throughout the game, numerous interactable objects enhance the overall dynamism of the experience. Proximity voice chat also plays a significant role in the experience. AJ can communicate with his friend, but caution is necessary— the entities can hear.

For an honest review since you asked, the game is very buggy, especially the camera. It seems to be using a lot of copyrighted content for both the images and the music. As well, the reviews on this game are coming from accounts with no other games in their library or reviews, it's clearly being botted. This review is mostly a reminder to myself. Feel free to ignore it. If your idea of fun is chatting with friends while aimlessly running around doing absolutely nothing, then sure, this game is for you. Otherwise do not touch it again. You will genuinely lose your mind running in circles for hours with nothing happening. No objectives. No puzzles. No meaningful progression. Just empty wandering until boredom kicks your teeth in. If you have slow or unstable internet, congratulations, you get to wait for a download just to waste your time anyway. You will install this game, boot it up, and realize you are doing nothing. That is the entire experience. It feels like a tech demo stretched way past its breaking point. I have played a ton of Backrooms games, good and bad, and this one is not worth the wait or the effort. There are far better options that actually give you something to do besides existing in yellow hallways. To be fair, it does have a few small moments where the atmosphere looks nice, and the environments can be pretty in a very limited way. The music choices are also solid. i genuinely think that the game has potential its just rough around the edges and the into doesn't have enough guidance. it would benefit a lot from having dedicated tasks to make game play feel like it has an end goal. crashes a lot and isnt optimised great. otherwise fun with friends1 found this helpful
