About Dendron 64

✦ AI summary

Dendron 64 is a restored N64 adventure where you play as a deer searching your isolated valley for missing friends while uncovering dark secrets and solving mysteries along the way. This recovered 1990s gem features multiple paths and endings shaped by your choices, a custom emulator console for adjusting your experience, and rewards thorough exploration across underground caverns, peaceful riverside activities, and environmental puzzles.

The goal of the Dendron 64 Recovery Project has been to revive a long-since-abandoned N64 game developed during the 1990s.After development for the game was initially halted, Dendron quickly slipped into obscurity. However, with guidance from one of the game's developers (Evelyn Beck), once-unfinished sections have now been completed and the original charm of both Dendron's story and its colourful cast of characters has been restored, breathing new life into what would have otherwise remained lost.BUT WHAT IS DENDRON?Dendron follows the story of a deer living in a quiet, isolated valley, known only as "the Spillway". Waking up to find all of your friends missing, your journey takes you to the deepest corners of the valley, uncovering your fellow townsfolks' darkest secrets along the way as you search for your friends' whereabouts. But be careful: a greater darkness lies beyond the stone walls that close ever-inwards around you.HOW DOES THE EMULATOR WORK?Part of the Dendron 64 Recovery Project has involved the development of a custom-made emulator, specially designed to run Dendron. To grant the player more control over their playing experience, the emulator comes equipped with its own console. The console will stay open while running Dendron, and will allow you to adjust settings such as the music and sound effect volumes. The console will open first upon booting the game. A broad range of commands is available, but to begin playing Dendron, you will need to enter the "launch dendron64" command. This will open the game in a separate window.Additionally, while it cannot be accessed in-game, the emulator console offers a "load tutorial" command, which while Dendron is open will allow you to access a separate tutorial level. It is recommended to play through the tutorial if you have not played Dendron before.FEATURES AND CONTENT
  • A custom-made console which will allow you to access unseen areas and adjust settings however you feel is the most comfortable to play with.
  • An emulator capable of porting the game onto PCs, allowing for more widespread playability and automatic rebooting if the game glitches or crashes.
  • A game with a variety of avenues to explore, each changing both your experience and ending depending on the choices you make and the areas you decide to visit.
  • Something for every type of player, whether you're looking for an adventure deep underground, a relaxing day of painting by the river, a puzzle to solve, or a mystery to uncover.
  • Retained N64 controls so the game can still be experienced as originally intended.
  • As advised by Evelyn Beck, Dendron rewards exploration.
