Dice Tribes: Ambitions

This game has so many interesting choices and so little filler

I always read reviews before considering a purchase. We could argue back and forth all day as to whether that is a good approach to purchasing games or not. When you read them as much as I do, you see patterns, and some I quickly dismiss - like the "i've played 1.5 hours and the game is "the best/worst" or I've played "302 hours and the game is wonderful/terrible". Also, the "I went to play for an hour before bed and the next thing I knew it was 3am" etc etc... Well, I picked this up some time ago, played for less than an hour and either I wasn't in the mood to learn it, or it didn't grab me on the day. A long time later, out of pure randomess, I tried it again today, whipped through the tutorial in the morning and was, overall, mildly interested. Did a few things around the house and tried the first Campaign level at 4pm. I write this review after midnight, having only had a short break for dinner and bathroom breaks! Yep, I am writing one of "those" reviews. It's good. I've defeated the first 3 campaign levels (each of those particular missions have an option of two vcitory conditions, so i've repeated them each to complete both), and whilst I haven't felt like i was teete…

Your tribe is trying to survive. Your tribesmen are dice. Tasks require certain die (dice) faces for success. Faces can be changed by specializing tribesmen. If you like small turn-based resource management games you will LOVE this one!

[i]Dice Tribes: Ambitions[/i] is a small game with all the ambition ([i]heh, heh[/i]) of a big game. [h1]Surprise pothole[/h1] [h2](small, but surprisingly deep)[/h2] It's full of neat little surprises, and has an ascension-style game mode that covers the bases for people who want to play it for much longer.

What a lovely gem of a game! Played it's various scenarios and was very engaged and entertained by the author's inventiveness. It's a boardgame-like worker-placement game, it has various scenarios and ever expanding game-mechanics or objects that keep the gameplay fresh and fun. Works on linux natively without any fuss or problems.
