About Disney•Pixar Cars Mater-National Championship
Mater is holding a national race festival allowing racers from all around the world to challenge Lightning McQueen. Along with racing against the new characters, players can explore the world of Radiator Springs and Lightning McQueen's racing headquarters. There are also more than 20 mini-games to tackle, including Ramone's Rhythmic Rumble and Fillmore's Fuel Frenzy. Mike and Sulley from Monsters, Inc. make an appearance as well.

Although outdated in terms of PC gaming this game is really fun. Perfect squeal to the Cars 1 game and while it doesn’t reach the same heights as the first (and even the games after) it is still a wonderful game in its own right. I am hoping someday all Cars games (and maybe the Planes game) get a remake collection (similar to Toy Story: Retro Roundup) because to anyone who likes Pixar or the Cars franchise I can’t say no to recommending this. Something I love about this game is the story and the interesting parallels between it and Cars 2 with Mater having a bigger role, racers from all over the world competing in a big Grand Prix, McQueen’s main rival being Italian, and Mater having a British love interest. Knowing the beloved legacy the Cars game trilogy has I hope someday they make a new game similar to it that takes places either after Cars 3 or Cars on the Road. Really wonderful game despite it’s age definitely showing. Happy 20 years to one of the most inconsistent yet great franchises ever.1 found this helpful
Disney should've stopped after creating this. Nothing will ever compete with this.
TLDR play the first game, skip this / watch the cutscenes. The PC version is unusually buggy, controls feel bad (especially on minigames), some assets are missing and some graphics look off. This game in all versions has _removed_ content (half the paint jobs, much of the music, all the concept art, whole maps) from the original PIXAR's Cars which is baffling to me. I 100%ed this game in 8-ish hours with a million credits because they removed all the neat unlockable stuff you'd spend credits on. 8 hours wasted tbh.
The Mater Monstertruck side quest is a little buggy, but otherwise, goated game.
