Downware is a first-person psychological horror game set in a dystopian cyberpunk world. As John, you must navigate a series of apartment rooms in a tense, puzzle-driven “escape-the-room” style, all while evading a malfunctioning cyborg enforcer determined to eliminate you. The game blends atmospheric horror with sci-fi elements, creating a unique experience, albeit at times quite frustrating.
Pros:
✅ Immersive and richly detailed cyberpunk setting ✅ Clever, well-integrated puzzles ✅ Frequent checkpoints help mitigate trial-and-error fatigue ✅ Excellent ambient sound design that heightens tension ✅ Strong visual style with a rich, detailed cyberpunk city setting
Cons:
❌ Lengthy and repetitive hiding sequences that drag down pacing, as John constantly has to hide from the cyborg that chases him ❌ Stealth mechanics are clunky and often unforgiving ❌ Despite the beautiful worldbuilding, exploration is limited almost entirely to apartment interiors ❌ Puzzle-solving under constant threat from the cyborg breaks immersion and leads to frustration ❌ Poor English localization, with frequent grammar issues and typos ❌ Lack of a hint system can make some puzzle sect…13 found this helpful
This game has a great atmosphere and soundtrack among other things. The music should be sold imo. The game revolves around us findin' Lucy after we take a nap in her apartment. We have to find her all while bein' pursued by a cyborg. I managed to get to a point where we need a second set of numbers to proceed with the story. I wish the game was voice acted to bring the story to life but what we have is fine. Solid experience for the price tag. Gameplay Impressions: https://youtu.be/AAkMJyuuCHM3 found this helpful
In this game you need to basically escape the Building because there is a Cyborg trying to kill you. You gonna need to solve puzzles and be stealth to pass through the Cyborg because you can't outrun him. The music fits very well on the game specially when the Cyborg appears. I really enjoyed this game overall. The story was unique and it had an added difficulty through the puzzles that went beyond what you normally see in an indie horror game, and I do like that there are different puzzles you can encounter based on how you go about the game. This game had very few moments of being relaxed as the threat of the Cyborg exists at most parts of the game, except during a few of the puzzles (which was a nice break haha). My only criticism is that I wish the checkpoint before the room with the night-vision where you have to learn the Cyborg's patterns was not so far back, as it was a little exhausting and tedious having to re-do the room with the chain link walls and then the air-duct like hallway many times. I feel like the checkpoint for this area could be right before the room with the banker boxes where the Cyborg starts chasing you again, but maybe others didn't have as much trouble with the night-vision room as me! Anyways, good game Aridide Production team, and I look forward to seeing what else you may make! Watch My Playthrough Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaQbHNISTtg1 found this helpful

the city and setting is GORGEOUS, i wish we got to walk around outside more. I thought it was going to be an adventure/walking sim sort of game with minimal puzzles, but this is basically an escape room style game where every room you're in has things to solve. i read the description again to see if i missed any reference of an escape room style game, but nowhere in the description does it suggest it would be a full on puzzle game :/ recommended if you enjoy puzzles with no hint system and little direction so as to what youre supposed to do
